Waste disposal procedureWaste generated in the lab can be

kept for a period of 2 months only in the lab

New waste generated must request for a storage label from LSI office

Storage label put in a pouch with double sided tape and pasted on

the carboys (only plastic containers used for storing wastes)

When the wastes are to be brought down to the basement store room, click on the disposal link one day in

advance

Stand by at the lift with buddies at 3 pm (Tuesday/ Thursdays)

LSI office personnel (Sini/ Arnel? Lynn) would be there to operate the

lift and the basement store room

Buddies go down via the lift to the basement lobby, personnel at the respective floor pushes the waste

trolley in the lift and it is collected by the buddies at the basement (NO

PERSONS IN THE LIFT)

Dispose of waste chemical , apply the disposal labels onto the containers,

sign off on the report

• If you are a first timer, there will no wastes listed under the CURRENT WASTE SECTION.

• Click on the NEW WASTE STORAGE LABLEL

• Select the appropriate values and submit. PLEASE NOTE THAT YOU NEED TO SELECT ALL THE FIELDS OTHERWISE IT WOULD NOT BE ACCEPTED

• For the chemicals that are not mentioned in the pull down list, please choose others from the Pull down list and type your chemicals in the OTHER CHEMICAL SECTION.

• • For Empty Bottles, please select Others from the Pull down option and Write EMPTY GLASS BOTTLES in

the other chemical section. • • Once you submit, the LSI/ CeLS safety officer/ management team would receive a notification of request

from the lab for a storage label. The notification for the requestor would be as below

• The safety officer/ back up would print the storage label and pass on to the requestor.

• The storage lablel looks like the below

• The storage label would only have the name of the chemical and the PI lab name and the deadline date by which the waste has to go down to the basement store room
