What is Business Analytics Challenge
Business Analytics Challenge is a new initiative aimed at students interested in working
with real life data to solve actual business problems.
BAC is provided by KMD, Danske Bank, and Microsoft in order to innovate the way we
collaborate. Business Analytics Challenge aims to join the efforts of talented
students to develop solutions that can help advance the Danish private sector and
the Danish society. Join us now and get an opportunity to compete with other students while
improving your own advanced analytics skills.
The challenge offers you to work both individually or in a group of up to five persons.
If you do not have a group or need more group members, you can join BAC2017 – Mix &
Match on Facebook.

The business problemThrough the last years we have seen company status change suddenly and even big
corporations have gone into distress while other companies escalate in growth.
Therefore it is crucial both from a society and a banking point of view that we can be
proactive to both limit the consequences for distressed companies and boost success for growth
companies. To be truly proactive, we need to be able to predict a company's future
development. This is where we need you…
We hope you can help us find the best model to predict company’s status 6 months ahead of
time.

Business Analytics Challenge 2017
What we hope from the winning teamThe objective is for you to develop at least
one model to predict the future for companies
You select your focus – e.g. success, distress,
bankruptcy or all of the above
You define your target for the models
Include at least one of the data sources on the
platform.
Using multiple data sources from platform or your
own external data will be credited.
You have to test your model on a test data set you
create and you select the right measure for model
performance for your model
Evaluation Criteria
Model Performance Performance on test data (ROC, GINI etc.)
Modelling process and description
Feature engineering
Evaluation of parameters from business perspective
Value How does your model help solve the business
problem
Argue what value your model can generate
Impact Describe how implementation can create an impact
for society, customers
Submission Ensure that your selected target/scope,
assumptions, process and findings are made

Pitch Explain your approach and findings clearly
