Head Coach Lynn MilliganRider Head Coach Lynn Milligan is in her eighth season as head coach. Milligan came to Rider fromSaint Joseph’s University where she was a six-year assistant coach. Three of her last five recruitingclasses for the Hawks were nationally ranked and the Hawks had 111 wins in her six seasons includingfive WNIT appearances. Prior to coaching at Saint Joseph’s, Milligan was the top assistant coach atDrexel University for six seasons. Milligan is a 1992 graduate of then Rider College with a degree inCommunication and earned her master’s in Counseling in 1994 from Rider. Milligan was a two-sport standout as Lynn Donovan lettering in basketball and softball. As a senior in 1992, Milligan helped lead theBroncs to a 9-3 record in the East Coast Conference and as a graduate assistant at Rider, the Broncscompiled a 35-20 record including a 25-11 record in the Northeast Conference. Milligan is the 19th head

coach in the now 76-year history of the sport at Rider. Milligan has led Rider to back to back 15 win seasons.

Duggan wasthen voted to the MAAC All-Rookie team for 2013-14 and was a finalist for MAAC Rookie of the Year andthis season was voted preseason Third Team All-MAAC.

Putting the ‘Student’ in Student-AthleteThe Spring 2014 semester academic accolades were recognized on December 3, 2014 with Emily Fazzini,Manon Pellet, Marritta Gillcrease, Mikal Johnson, Taylor Wentzel, Shereen Lightbourne, MyNeshia McKenzieand Robin Perkins among the 205 student-athletes honored for a 3.00 grade point average or higher.

StreakersRider had a five-game winning streak broken at Manhattan on January 2, 2012...that was Rider’s longestwinning streak since the 1993-94 season when the Broncs won seven in a row...the Broncs posted fourgame winning streaks during the 1994-95, 1995-96 & 1996-97, 1999-2000 and 2008-09 seasons.

M*A*S*H Update - (a/k/a the Dain Report)From the desk of Athletic Trainer Gina Dain, junior Taylor Wentzel is back after missing the 2013-14season with a knee injury. Wentzel missed the Lafayette game on November 25 with a lower body injuryafter playing the first two games of the season but returned to action at Old Dominion on November 30.

And Away We GoRider opened the season with three games away from home in a row and overall, 11 of Rider’s first 14games will be away from Alumni Gym in Lawrenceville.

MinutemenDespite the game going into overtime at Old Dominion on November 30, not one Rider player logged morethan 35 minutes with the Broncs going 12 deep to defeat the Lady Monarchs 59-56.

Deja VuGoing back through available records from 1977 to the current season, the 59-56 final scores in back toback wins November 30 and December 2 are the first time that Rider women’s basketball has won back toback games by the same score. The closest scores in back to back losses was 68-53 against Fairfield onJanuary 29, 2006 and 67-53 against Saint Peter’s on February 3, 2006. The closest back to back wins tothe same score was 76-66 over Manhattan on January 11, 2009 and a 76-63 victory over Pennsylvania onJanuary 13, 2009.

Lights OutRider shot 73.9 percent at Siena on December 31, 2013 in the second half (17-23), the best shooting halfsince Rider shot 62.5 percent (15-24) in the second half against Fairfield on February 7, 2013.

An Afternoon Delight10 of Rider’s 15 wins last season came during games played in the afternoon.

Come From AheadRider led Saint Peter’s by 17 points on January 18, 2014 and won by one point, 56-55. That was thelargest lead given up with the Broncs still winning under head coach Lynn Milligan.

Against Siena, on January 24, 2014, Rider gave back all of a 10-point lead and were tied twice beforewinning by three, 73-70. Against Niagara, the Purple Eagles cut a 15-point Bronc lead to one but nevertook the lead in Rider’s 82-72 win on February 9, 2014.

Cardiac BroncsRider has won five games last season when trailing by seven or more points during the contest. TheBroncs trailed Central Connecticut by 12 on December 21, Fairfield by 12 on March 7 in the MAACquarterfinals, Maryland Baltimore County by 10 on November 29, Binghamton by eight on December 14 andManhattan by seven on February 1. Rider also overcame an 11 point deficit to tie Navy late in the first halfon November 30 before the Midshipmen pulled away for the win and the Broncs cut a 13 point Fairfield leadto two before losing by six on December 29.

Jack Armstrong. An All-American pitcher for Rider in1985 as a sophomore, went on to start the 1990Major League All-Star game as a rookie pitcher forthe World Champion Cincinnati Reds.

Clair Bee. An accounting professor, founded Ridervarsity sports in 1928-29 and coached football,basketball and baseball. Compiled a 53-7three-year record in basketball before moving on toLIU, where he won National Championships. Amember of the Naismith Basketball Hall of Fame, Beewrote the popular Chip Hilton books and inventedthe shot clock and the three-second rule.

Christine (Sikiric) Catalanotto ’05. Two-yearletterwinner at Rider, graduating Magna cum Laudewith a degree in Psychology. Served two seasonsas a graduate assistant coach at Wagner Collegeand is now in her seventh season as an assistantcoach at Manhattan College.

Dick Kuchen ’66. Graduated from Rider as thecareer leader in rebounds and was fifth in careerscoring, made the winning fouls shots as Rider upsetNYU. Was the head coach at Cal-Berkley and Yale.

Jack Madden ’65. Graduated from Rider as thecareer leader in points and rebounds in basketballand was 20-5 as a Bronc pitcher on the baseballteam. Went on to enjoy a long career as an NBAreferee, including 25 NBA championship seriesgames.

Lynn Milligan ’92, ’94. Current head coach of thewomen’s basketball team at Rider.

Richard “Digger” Phelps ’64. Played basketball andgolf at Rider, coached basketball at University ofNotre Dame, currently works with ESPN, member ofRider Athletics Hall of Fame.

Lauren Thomer ’04. After two seasons as anassistant at Army, Thomer was named the headcoach at Manhattanville College in Purchase, NewYork in October, 2009 and was awarded conferencecoach of the year honors in her first season. She isnow an assistant coach at Yale.
