What’saSchoolImprovementPlan?
Goal:ReadingAchievementforAllStudentswillincreasefrom22%to27%asmeasuredbyProficiencyontheMCA.
Strategytoachieveourgoal:WearestartingwithRitualsandRoutines.Weknowthathavingclearroutinesandexpectationsforbothteacher-ledandstudent-ledtimewillcreatethelearningenvironmentforstudentacademicsuccess.
WeselectedIndependentReadingandConferringbecauseResearchclearlystatesthat:- Studentsbecomestrongerreaders,themoretheyread- Thatteacher-studentconferringwillleadtogreaterreadingsuccess- Creatingasolidroutineofaindependentreadingwhenstudentsareengagedinreading,willcreatespaceandtimeforteacher-studentconferringandallowteacherstoconductguidedreadinggroups.
- WeselectedIndependentWritingandConferringbecausereadingandwritingarereciprocal.Webelievethatifstudentsareengagedinmoreacademicwriting,theywillalsoincreasetheirreadingsuccess. 8

Strategytoachieveourgoal:• WewillusetheMulti-TieredSystemsofSupporttoassurethateachstudentis:- Assessedandcloselymonitoredsothatwecandetermine,specifically,whattheyneedandprovidethenecessaryinstruction.
- Monitoredtoensuresolidcoreinstructionandinterventions/enrichmentmatchthestudentneedandensuregrowth.

Wewanttomakesureourstudentsarelearningasmuchaspossible,soweusestateanddistrictassessmentstodeterminetheirstrengthsandareasforgrowth.Theresultsoftheseassessmentshelpusfigureouthowwecanbettersupportourstudentsintheclassroom.
Throughouttheyear,we’llshareinformationwithyouabouthowyourstudentisdoingintheclassroom.We’lldoitinthefollowingways:• Parent-TeacherconferencesonOctober16th from

WhatisTitleI?
TitleIisafederalprogramthatprovidesmoneytoschoolsanddistricts tohelpthemensureallchildrenhaveanequalopportunitytogetahigh-qualityeducationandachieveproficiencyonourstate’sacademicstandardsandassessments.
Forthe2018-2019schoolyear,wereceived$232,005inTitleIfunding,whichmakesup.049% ofourschoolbudget.
WearerequiredtouseTitleIfundingtoimprovetheacademicachievementofallstudentsandengageYOU,ourfamilies,inthatprocess!

Two Questions on 2018 referendum ballot
MinneapolisPublicSchoolswillholdatwo-question,$30millionreferendumonNovember6,2018,to:
1)IncreasetheCurrentOperatingReferendumLevy ($18million)
2)EstablishaCapitalProjects“Technology”Levy($12million)
How will funds be used?
Fundswillbeusedacrossthedistricttoimprovestudentachievementandwell-beingthroughequitableinvestmentsinliteracy,socialemotionallearning,andsystematicsupportservices
NewrevenuesourceswillalsohelpreducefuturebudgetcutsandreductionsinservicestostudentsacrossMinneapolisbyprovidingasoundandpredictablefinancialfoundation
What happens if increased revenue not approved by voters?
Schoolsandstudentswillexperienceadditionalstaffing,programandservicereductions.Maynothavefundsforpriorityareasandtobuildasustainableschooldistrictthatreflectssharedvaluesofourcommunity.Annualconcernsaboutfundingwillcontinue,makingitdifficulttoattractandkeepbothnewstudentsandstaff.
