Passive fire protection is a term used to describe the parts of a building or structure that provides a barrier

to fire, containing and slowing the rate at which it spreads. This is achieved by creating fire-resistant walls,

floors and doors. It also protects load bearing columns and other critical structures to prevent the building

collapsing during fires. However, the building regulations stipulates the rules and the degree of fire

resistance of the elements of structure. British standard 476 only dictates the appropriate fire tests for

these elements of structure/materials and grades the level of fire resistance. The following is a list of the

current standards.

Hofmann Steel Stud Partition/ Internal Hoarding system is designed for use in both fire rated and non-fire rated application and it consists of one single layer of 9mm Calcium silicate board sheets, screw fixed to steel frame with the strip and mineral wool for the insulation. These systems are available with fire rated of BS476 Part 22 for FRR 120 minutes of both integrity and insulation.Speedily erected, Hofmann Steel stud Partition system are suitable for every type of new construction-commercial, institutional, industrial and residential. They provide smooth, durable, non-combustible wall that is lightweight, quick installation and low cost. It is an ideal system for internal hoarding during renovation.

Hofmann Fire/Smoke Barrier system is designed for the application in the shopping center or hall. Our barriers are one single layer of 9mm thick Calcium silicate board sheets which screw fixed to steel frame with the strip and mineral wool for the insulation. These systems are easy to install in the large area to prevent smoke spreading out in the ceiling height. They are available with the fire rated standard of BS476 Part 20 for FRR 120 minutes in according with both integrity and insulation.

In order to prevent cable insulation deterioration in the initial stage of fire, overhead cable ducts must be constructed of fire-resistant thermal insulation materials.

Exterior Cladding for BS476 Part22: 1987.(FRR -/120/120) Integrity & Insulation- TAIKALITE BS board is a compartment wall having the performance of 2 hours fire resistance for BS476 Part22 for exterior cladding. The thickness of the compartment wall is only 50mm;- Due to the crystal structure ,XONOLITE, of calcium silicate, there is no need for any mineral wool inside the system for heat insulation. So, this compartment wall system is applied for the fire protection of exterior cladding or stairway with waterproof coating;- The characteristic of light weight density at 600kg/m3 which is 40% lighter than other boards. Less labor is required and shorten the term of works.

Vision Access Panel for Meter Enclosure

In order to fulfill the fire safety requirement of the Mandatory Building Inspection Scheme

of Chapter 572, Hofmann offers a maintenance friendly access panel with vision glass to

apply on Meter Enclosures for Form WR2. The dimension is 600 x 600mm and comes

with lock for safety security which the access panel is comply with BS476 Part 22 with

FRR -/60/60 from Malaysia with HOKLAS approval.

extract system with EN 13501-3 : 2005. The density is only 800kg/m3. The

width can be up to 1250mm x 1000mm. Beside in ventilation, smoke

extraction and installations duct, the boards are used as steel beam and

column linings too. The connection are glued and screwed or stapled.
