Build a Vote Only Campaign in 11 easy stepsShortStack offers templates that make it easy to create beautiful
Campaigns you can use to engage your fans and followers. In this Quick
Start Guide we’ll take you through the 11 steps it takes to set up a basic
Vote Only Campaign, a Campaign for which you upload your own content
and ask your audience to vote on it. It’s designed for engagement only and does
not involve a prize.
The template example used in this guide is designed for photos. However,
you can modify the template to use with text or videos as well (below, we
explain how).

STEP 1
Log in to your ShortStack account and select “Campaigns” from the menu at the top of the page. Click the orange “New” button. When asked “How would you like to start?”, click the “Start with Template” button.

Choose the “Vote Only Crowdsourcing” template.

Choose “Use this Template.”

STEP 4
Add your own header image. Hover over the default image and click on the pencil icon in the upper left-hand corner. Select your own image. Save and exit.

STEP 5
Add your own message. Hover over the Main Message Widget in the Edit Widgets Panel and click on the pencil icon. Edit the text to reflect the requirements of your Campaign. Save and exit.
Note: You do not need to edit the
Cast Your Vote Here Widget at this
time – you will have the option to
do so later. You will not need to edit
the Voting Action Widget.

STEP 6
Update your “thank you” message. Hover over the Thanks Text Widget in the Edit Widgets Panel and click on the pencil icon. Enter a message of your own. Save and exit.

Customize your share messages. Hover over the Share Widget in the Edit Widgets Panel and click on the pencil icon. In the the Setup tab, fill in the Prompt message to tell your users to share.
Next, choose an image to be shared in your messages on the different platforms.
Finally, create a unique share message for each of the platforms you would like to share to.

STEP 8 (FOR PHOTO ONLY)
Add the content you want your users to vote on. You’ll notice that the Content Entry Widget in the Edit Widgets Panel is set to “Builder Only View”. This means that this widget is only visible in the Campaign Builder and not on the live, published Campaign.
Next, find the Preview Controls Panel. Click the “Test Mode” and “Live Entry Mode” icons to the “On” position. Make sure “Entry Restrictions” is off. Next, add the photos you want people to vote on by going to “Select Photo” in the Content Entry Widget panel within the Campaign preview. Upload your photos, one at a time, from your computer or from Facebook.

STEP 8A (FOR VIDEO ONLY)
If you are asking your audience to vote on videos, you will follow the steps described above, but will first modify the form within the Content Entry Widget to accept videos. Hover over the Content Entry Widget in the Edit Widgets Panel. Click the Edit Form Icon (it looks like a pencil on paper).
Delete the Select Photo and Photo Title fields.
Under Custom Fields select the Video URL field by clicking on the + icon. After you make your changes, click Save Form and you will automatically return to the Campaign Builder.

STEP 8B (FOR TEXT ONLY)
If you are asking your audience to vote on text, you will follow the steps described above in Step 8, but will first modify the form within the Content Entry Widget to accept text. Hover over the Content Entry Widget in the Edit Widgets Panel. Click the Edit Form Icon (it looks like a pencil on paper).
Delete the Select Photo and Photo Title fields.
Under Custom Fields select the Text field by clicking on the + icon.

When the field appears you can change its label to read whatever you’d like by typing inside the box. Now scroll down to the Other Options panel and make sure “Display in Voting Widget” is selected. After you make your changes, click Save Form and you will automatically return to the Campaign Builder.
Note: This label will appear on your form with every entry you display (if you
want to hide this label, we’ll explain how at the end of this step).

To prevent the label from showing with every entry, hover over the Cast Your Vote Here Widget in the Edit Widgets Panel and click on the pencil icon. In the Options tab, select Hide Other Field Labels. Save and exit.

STEP 9
Edit your links. Hover over the Links Widget in the Edit Widgets Panel and click on the pencil icon. To edit the links your audience will see, click on the individual pencil icons and insert your own link names and URLs. Save and exit.

STEP 10
Delete the Template Instructions Widget. Hover over the Template Instructions Widget in the Campaign preview and click on the trashcan icon in the upper right-hand side.

STEP 11
Yippee, you’re done! It’s time to publish your Campaign! Click on the big orange “Publish Campaign” button in the middle above your ruler. Make sure to copy the Campaign URL to promote your Campaign.
