National Launch for Quality of Life Standards
On 10th June Care Minister Norman Lamb launched a
national set of Quality of Life standards which have been
written by over 650 young people and adults with learning
disabilities and autism.
The standards cover all areas of a person’s life from where
they live, to where they work and how they are an equal
member of the community. They are intended to raise theaspirations of people with learning disabilities and their
families so they can speak out and take action when they
are not being supported to live as equal citizens.
You can read more about the Quality of Life Standards

There is also a video on the link above explaining about the

Short Film Highlights Hate Crimes
June Stubbs and Linda Lord of Middlesbrough Community
Inclusion Service have been working closely with local selfadvocates, the police and others to make a DVD aboutHate Crime.
Cleveland's Police and Crime Commissioner BarryCoppinger wants to use the DVD to train staff so that theyunderstand what it's 'really' like for people who experiencedisability harassment and hate crime.
Gavin Harding, Director of Inclusion North has an interest
in hate crime and said
"This is exactly the kind of work that needs to be
happening. It's so important for the Police and Crime
commissioners across the country to work with selfadvocacy groups. They know so much and have lots of
skills and knowledge to share.
Later in the year Inclusion North wants to get all the
commissioners from our area together in a room with self
advocates so they can all learn from each other."
News of this event will be out later this year.
