BULLYING AT HIGH SCHOOL

Bullying can happen everywhere, especially in HighSchool. In Indonesia, Kak Seto, a psychologist, said thata lot of case of bullying happened in High School.

It happens between the seniors and juniors in Schooland usually starts with the jealousy of the seniors totheir juniors.

After that, juniors can be bullied because seniors areforcing and abusing them.

But, in many case, the fault is not on the seniors, but injuniors.

When the fault is on the juniors, it usually becausethey have some kind of mental pressure

So they act like they have a serious problem in

school to their parents who are absolutely want thebest for their children, and blame the school who

will blame the seniors, because they thought that it

was all about bullying in high school.

So in this case, eventhough the fault is on the

juniors, still seniors are the one who get blame for

both from parents and school.

For the case of bullying, we give you an example.

This case is about Vhia, a student from SMA 70.

Her seniors, Euodia, Arvi, and Dinar asked her whydoesn't she wear any undershirt. She anwered in

unpleasant and unpolite tone that she has only one

undershirt which is being washed by her

grandmother. The other students laughed for her

unacceptable reason.

Vhia admitted that her seniors pushed, pinched her

right arm, and kicked her stomach. She reportedher seniors for doing social, verbal, and physical

bullying.

However, both Euodia, Arvi, and Dinar denied thatthey did the physical bullying. They said that they just

warned her.

Regardless of who is lying or honest, the reason of thebullying is for Vhia's own good. They said that because

she didn't wear any undershirt, her bra is able to be

seen.

In other side, her friends confessed that Vhia is a bullier

too. She often pretending to be a senior to get some

money from the other students.

Nevertheless, any kind of bullying is still intolerable

WHY IS IT STILL EXIST?

Bullying is still exist because the bullier want to hidetheir inadequacy with their rude attitude. They alsocant accept the truth that they are facing. They just

enjoy the future without taking responsibility of it,so they bullied.

And mostly case is in bullying theres a hereditary

tradition. Therefore, it will stay alive and cannot beerased from generation to generation.

The seniors who bullying could be the one who inthe past get bullied by their previous seniors.

TYPES OF BULLYING

Verbal : by calling someones name inappropriate. Make

a stamp for them and it make them hurt. Make jokes on

them. Usually about physical appearance, ethnicity,

socioecomonics status, gender, and also religion

Physical: by hitting, punching, or having someones item

rudely, and any kind of aggressive physical contact.

Social : by ignoring someone and spreading all ofrumors about them and also make them feel like an

outsider.

POINT OF VIEW

Bullier : They want to show their power. They want

to be more than the other especially at the juniors.

They want the juniors are scare of them and adore

them. They want to take a revenge for what havedone at them when they were juniors.

Bullied/Victims : They will always feel guilty at

anything, they scare of their seniors and feel that theseniors are always right. They will have a mental

pressure.

EFFECTS OF BULLYING

Bulliers : get more power, but also can be drop outfrom school with disrespect.

Bullied/Victims: great depression, fear of people,

mental disorders, and for the worst, getting insane. School : can lose its reputation, and get a blacklist from

people.

Parents : have to take care and pay attention for theirchildren more and more. They also can have stress to amental disorders because they can accept the truth oftheir own children

SOLUTION

Bullying is not the right way to show power especially

for seniors to juniors. They, seniors, can show their

power by using their ability and teaching them, juniors,

a good lesson for survive in high school in the right

way. Victims who are new with the school can make a

successful adaptation and make new friends especially

with the seniors who can help them a lot.

School which tarnished its reputation, can pay moreattention at their students and also facilitate them

with something that will decrease number of

bullying.F

or example : sports club, etc. Parents is also one of the most responsible

component. They can give their children more

attention, and also have a good communication, so it

will decrease family problem which always

influence children behaviour
