Mustard Seed Bible Study
Hi Mustard Seed Sisters! May is fast approaching and Mustard Seed is going to follow the extended quarantine guidelines which means no May meeting. We will then be on
to summer break with our next meeting in September. As that time gets closer, I will make contact with each of you. We will have lots to talk about by then. I encourage each of you to continue to pray for our church, community, leaders, country and loved ones and all who are struggling. Please call with any questions. Sue Wolter 897-2221.

FINANCIAL UPDATE FROM Al Schneider, Trustees Chair 4/19/2020
I just want to give all of you a brief update on church finances. Despite all of the turmoil and uncer-tainty of the past few weeks, all things considered, we are doing okay financially. We did get off to a slow start the first week that the church was closed and we had only live stream and cable broad-cast. The total giving was about $300. However, since that time giving has returned to more or less normal levels. At the present time we have all of our bills covered for the month of April. Also, at the beginning of this shutdown, we were advised by the conference to apply for a new government program just passed at the national level known as the Payroll Protection Program or simply PPP. We were also advised by the conference that we could secure this loan by a vote of the CLC and we would not have to hold a church conference. You may have heard about this program since it is available to all small businesses with less than 500 employees including non-profits such as ourselves. The basic purpose of the program is to keep as many people employed and paid during this COVID 19 pandemic as possible. Through this program, we have been able to obtain an amount of money that will allow us to pay all staff for approximately 2 months. If we spend at least 75% of these funds on payroll and the remaining 25% on other approved expenses such as utilities in the next 8 weeks, we will not be required to pay it back. It effectively becomes a grant. Since no one has any firm timing on how and when the economy will open back up or exactly what things will look like when it does, we have also applied for a withdrawal from our investment at the United Methodist Foundation to act as an emergency fund in case this problem continues for some period of time. If things return to normal and we do not need the money, we will redeposit it in the investment account. As I mentioned before, we are current on all of our bills and the PPP money should give us a cushion going in to the summer when attendance and giving is normally down. We have paid $2,865 toward apportionments so far this year out of our annual total owed of $ 34,704. In other words we have paid 8.26% which is 8.26% more than we had paid last year at this time. Given the unprecedented circumstances-at least in any of our lifetimes-that we are currently experiencing, we are doing quite well at the present time. I realize that this has been just a very brief overview of our financial situation. If you have further, more detailed questions, please contact Pastor Kook Ho, Jane Copus, Teresa Hammon or myself. We also would appreciate any feedback that you may have on these quarterly financial updates.

From Your Parish Nurse: Many people have asked about cloth face masks. Dorothy Arn has been busy making masks and I was given some others which have been distributed to parishioners. The difficulty is getting some of the supplies needed such as 1/4 inch elastic. I have ordered some but it is currently on back order. If anyone would like to make their own, they can find instructions on the web at www.CDC.gov. Then click on the link for Face Covers. The masks are easy to make with scraps of fabric which can then be laundered in the normal laundry. You can line the masks with interfacing which gives more filter power or you may slip paper toweling or a coffee filter in the pocket to achieve the same effect. The mask should fit quite snugly for the best benefit. Practice wearing them before going into public as some people feel a bit short of breath at first. This sensation usually dissipates after a short period of time. If you would like a mask, let the church office know and I will distribute as supply allows.
Shout out to Vicki & Dorothy! so far, they have distributed 34 masks to those in need!
