Parks Passes will not be available at the parks – you must get your pass at the Recreation Office. Parks Place is available for Burlington residents only. Each participant will be allowed to bring a

guest up to 5 times during the summer.

Staff members are responsible for children only when they are participating in park activities. Parks do not have indoor facilities and may close suddenly because of weather or other reasons.

Additional guidelines are available to parents at each park. Participants should bring a peanut-free lunch.

*Regan and Wildmere Park will close at Noon on August 15.**Rahanis and Wildwood Parks will remain open through August 29. Both parks will close at Noon on

August 29.

RULES AND EXPECTATIONSYour child’s safety is the most important thing for us at Park Place, so we always have rules that we

expect each child to follow. Some of the most important rules are:1. Always Keep Your Hands to Yourself - pushing, hitting, or any other violent behavior will not be

tolerated 2. Listen to the Staff Members at all times -- disruptions ruin the fun for everybody

3. Stay inside the park -- we NEVER allow children to go outside the fences without permission, this is taken very seriously

4. Respect everybody at the park - this includes children, staff members and volunteers...keep Park Place fun for everybody!

*We will offer an expanded Park Place program this year! Two of our parks will remain open during the weeks of August 18 and August 25!

of the spine to the top of the skull. In this type of yoga, the experience is most important, not the form. You don’t have to be able to twist yourself like a pretzel or be in great physical shape. Kundalini yoga works if you can breathe and move your body. Come unlock the creative potential within as you raise your Kundalini energy with this life-changing practice. Please bring a yoga mat,

Block IslandSaturday, June 21, $89, Bus Departs: Recreation Center, Time: TBA, Activity #: 00824

Block Island, previously called Manisses (“Island of the Little God”) by the Narragansett Indians, is a popular family vacation resort. Its only town, Old Harbor, has the look and feel of old New

England, with white Victorian clapboard buildings lining its waterfront street. Consisting of just 11 square miles, the island was settled in 1661 and features many nature, bicycling and hiking trails

and wildlife sanctuaries. This trip includes round trip ferry service, luncheon at the National Hotel, a narrated tour of the island, and much more!

Thimble Islands CruiseSaturday, July 12, $99, Bus Departs: Recreation Center, Time: TBA, Activity #: 00826

The “Thimbles” have often been described as “a piece of Maine coast that drifted into Long Island Sound”. Summer excursion vessels plied these waters during the “golden age” of the Victorian Era. Twenty-three of the islands are large enough to be inhabited. Approximately 85 homes,

built mostly during the Victorian Era, are complete with widow walks, gingerbread trimmings, and genteel gazebos. Islands range in all sizes, and have spartina and pink granite with the larger ones boating scrub pine and hardwoods, making the islands appear to be deceivingly tropical in nature.

29

Maine Lighthouse TrailSaturday, July 19, $109, Bus Departs: Recreation Center, Time: TBA, Activity #: 00845

Our day begins with a visit to Stonewall Kitchen for a sampling of their products. Next, it is on to Nubble Light, one of the most photographed lighthouses on the Maine coast. For lunch, we will

feature a Maine lobster meal. Then it is on to Portland Head Light and you will learn why George Washington commissioned a fort at this point and ordered a signal fire to be lit. You will see the

lighthouse on Rams Island as well as Two Lights at Cape Elizabeth and the lighthouse at Spring Point.

Induction of Tom Glavine at CooperstownJuly 25 - 27, $299 per person, double occupancy, Deposit $100 per person with registration, Balance due: May 10, Waiver fee: $29 per person (optional) due with registration deposit, Activity #: 00828

Born in Concord, MA and raised in Billerica, Tom attended Billerica Memorial High School. An excellent student, Tom was a letterman in ice hockey as well as baseball. In 1984, Tom was drafted

by both the LA Kings in the NHL entry draft and the Atlanta Braves MLB organization in the 2nd round of the amateur draft. Electing to play baseball, he made his major league debut on August

17, 1987. Named World Series MVP when the Braves defeated the Cleveland Indians to win the 1995 World Series, Tom pitched two winning games and eight innings of one-hit shutout baseball.

Still with the Braves, Tom went to four other World Series with the team. Next, he went to the NY Mets, the rival of Atlanta with his career, then returning to the Atlanta Braves where his number

47 was retired in 2010. His story is one that a boy could only dream about! Now the date is set in July – Thomas Glavine will be inducted into the Baseball Hall of Fame…and you could be there!

Martha’s VineyardSaturday, July 26, $89, Bus Departs: Recreation Center, Time: TBA, Activity #: 00829

Rich in history and a favorite summer haven for many notables over the year. The original people of Martha’s Vineyard include Native American Wampanoags. Unable to prove, but it’s believed that the first humans probably came here at the end of the Ice Age, but before the sea levels

changed and the island was formed. Native American camps that carbon-date to 2270 BC have been uncovered on the island. As you tour the island, you will learn the rich history of immigrants from England and the Cape Verde Island, farmers, fishermen, blacksmiths and merchants who settled

here as a safe haven. Through the colonial period, the raiding British, the age of whaling and the Civil War, Martha’s Vineyard became a nurturing place where all people could prosper. This trip

includes round trip ferry to Martha’s Vineyard, a narrated sightseeing tour and much more.
