MATHEMATICS Topic: Numbers from 51-100
First the teacher will make sure that the students have attained absolute perfection in reciting and writing
numbers from 1-50 with proper formation. Then the students will be taught numbers from 51-75 and
countless drillings will help them memorize these numbers by heart. Then they will be taught to write these
numbers with perfect formation in alternate boxes on their class work notebooks like this Numbers from

After they will be perfect in their work, they will be taught numbers from 75-100 in the similar manner.

Once the teacher is sure that the students are able to recite and write numbers properly, a sequence on
numbers with blanks within them where they have to the missing numbers will be introduced to them, for

Topic: Number names 16-30
First the teacher will assure that the children can easily write number names from 1-15. Then the teacher
will ask questions related to number names 1-15 as already taught. Then the teacher will write the
heading. “Number names” on the green board and the children will be asked to write the same on the top
line of their notebooks and they will be made to write numerals vertically downwards on the left hand side
and their number names against them as shown below:

1. Reading
Children are helped to read this lesson. The focus is kept upon proper
pronunciation and correct spelling of each word they read and learn.
This chapter introduces a number of children who are friends. The children are out
in the park having fun. Some are eating or playing ball while others are skating or
playing hide and seek. Their fun filled activities bring them happiness.In this
chapter action words are introduced and by demonstrating their usage the concept
of verbs is introduced.

Spellings.
Every chapter introduces new words that children are made to learn. The spelling
and meaning of each word is taught such that the children start using the word as
part of their vocabulary. They are encouraged to use these words in sentences of
their own.
Dictation:
Dictation words are given to the children to check their learning progress with
spellings. It is important that the child learns to retain what has been taught. The
dictation words are given in the format already mentioned.Start by writing the date.
Then write L-2, Dictation Words in the first block of four lines.

Transcription
Improving writing skills in children is important. They are made to write sentences
that were spoken by the kids out playing in the lesson as a transcription exercise.
Children also get to write sentences one after the other in continuation setting the
base for writing in paragraphs. The also learn to write names which reinforces the
writing of name with capital letters. A concept which is already taught.

3. Comprehension Exercises
A set of comprehension exercises are have been prepared to assess the child’s
learning of the concepts taught.These are stimulating exercises and activities that
allows the child to put different words in place to understand the formation of a sentence.
Fill in the Blanks.
The children are asked to fill a blank left in a sentence by the appropriate word.
This helps the children recall what they had learnt in the lesson.
Put Tick or Cross.
To evaluate the understanding of the meaning and context of the sentences
children are given the Tick and Cross exercise

Make Sentences.
The best way to learn sentence formation is to let the children frame sentences
from given words. The children need to recall the context in which a word can be
used to form sentences of their own.
Action Words
This helps to learn the action words(verbs) and hence sets the base for learning
continuous tense.

Questions and Answers.
It is important that children learn to retain, understand and recall what they have
been taught. To help them improve the skills of retention,understanding and
recollection. The question/Answer format is used.

Action Words
The concept of sentence formation is gradually inculcated into the children by
gradually introducing the different parts of the sentence structure. This has to be
done in the simplest manner such that the children are not burned with
technicalities. Verbs are taught as action words. Here they learn more action words
in addition to the ones already taught in lesson 2.

Concepts
One aspect of learning a language needs the children to acquire the understanding
and knowledge of the concepts like position, location, singularity, plurality,
comparisons etc. And in continuation of that (concept of position and location with
respect to an object having been taught) we will be helping the child to understand
about location, position, number, quantity in the proximity of an object.

After the concept of “singular and plural” and “location and position” has been
taught the concept is advanced to proximity of an object in relation to its position for
singular and plural objects. “This and That”and “These and Those” are introduced.

These small exercises are meant to further ingrain in the children the
understanding of the concept taught above.

This helps the child to recollect with the help of illustration words that can be
formed with different alphabets.It builds their vocabulary. Children can be made to
do this activity with different letters of the alphabet.

The child needs to spend some time to practise their writing skills. We practice this
by writing down the sentences that were spoken by the boy and the girl in the
chapter as a transcription exercise.
3. Comprehension Exercises
To evaluate the child’s learning of the concepts taught, a set of comprehension
exercises are given. This is a thought-provoking activity that allows the child to look
more deeply at the formation of a sentence by putting different words together.

While the concept of sentence formation is being taught, the understanding of the

understanding of the concepts taught in the lesson.
