WHITEHORSE SPRING FESTIVAL
Although the wind was blowing quite strongly, this
did not deter people from watching our school’s
performance at the Whitehorse Spring Festival last
Sunday. The families of our students had gathered
in front of the stage and then the entertainment
commenced. What a treat it was! The many Dance
Troupes, including the amazing Boys’ Dance, and
Glee Clubs thoroughly deserved the resounding
applause they received for their talented
performance.
What a privilege it was for all who witnessed the
talent and enthusiasm of our young performers.
Thank you staff, students and parents for promoting
our students and our school in such a positive
manner.
.
CONGRATULATIONS EVERYONE!

ART SHOW 2016 ‘EXPRESS YOURSELF’
The Art Show is fast approaching and the students have been busy putting the finishing touches to their art work. The student Art Show Committee are working behind the scenes framing and presenting the art work for display, as well as numerous other tasks to help in the successful staging of the Art Show. Mark in your diaries, Art Show 20th October 2016, 5.30-7.30pm, which is when all will be ready for viewing in the E. Wood Centre. We have a range of catering on the night, including a sausage sizzle, cakes, popcorn and jelly, and bottled water. The ‘Green Thumbs’ plant stall will have plenty of pickings for your garden or perhaps as gifts for friends and family. Please support us on the night as money raised will go towards the funding of technology within the school. On this front we are still collecting donations of pots and plants, so if you have contributions for this, please leave outside the art room. In particular we are looking to source terracotta pots or empty tins, such as tomato tins; that have been cleaned with the labels removed. Please feel free to spray paint the tins to decorate. Established succulents and plants are also needed. As in previous years, student art work can be purchased by family members with a gold coin donation for each piece of art work. Students delight in seeing a red sold sticker on their work during the evening. Sold art work can be taken home at the end of the night (7.30pm), or if not taken on the night will be distributed to your child the following week.
Please invite your family, extended family and friends along, to share in what is always a fun filled community event. Kind regards Jacqui Carslake - Visual Arts Teacher
Whitehorse Spring Festival Performance and Performing Arts in Term Four
Congratulations to all the students in Junior Glee, Glee A, Blue and Gold Crews and
the Diamond, Ruby, Crystal, Opal and Sparkle Dance Troupes who performed at
the Whitehorse Spring Festival. We were glad that the weather remained fine
and it was wonderful to see families setting up picnic blankets ready to watch the
students perform the first item on the Main Stage for the day. The students
sang and danced with huge smiles on their faces. A huge thank-you to all the staff
who volunteered to assist in the dressing room and backstage, which allowed us to
have such a large group of students perform.
As we now have so many students involved in the Performing Arts Extra Curricular
activities we have had to arrange for different groups to perform at different
school and community events throughout the year. Future planned performances:

Show.
Monday 21st November – Choir (Grades 3-6) to perform at the Peter James
Centre.

Wednesday 7th December – Choir (Grades 5/6) to perform at the R.S.P.C.A.
Wednesday 7th December – Dance and Glee Concert
