1. Introduction:As you have assigned me to write a report on “Muslim culture in Turkey” on May 3, 2008 at room number 2S-38 to analyze the circumstance of Turk government and its issues regarding Muslim and secularism. Now the report is ready for your kind consideration.

2. Information:This report is about the dual aspects of Islam, Islamic Culture and Modernization rising in Turkey. This report revolves around the Muslims of Turkey and the role of Turk government and westerns in making and destroying the culture. In this situation, it is described that what the factors that influence Muslims and Islamic culture are.

a) Turkey is said to be an secularist country where there is nothing to do with religion. People are Muslims in Turkey but we’d not be able to differentiate the Muslim of Turkey with westerns.

b) Hidayat Tuksal grew up in a strict Muslim culture. She started to teach the Muslim female students at university where she had been banned because of wearing headscarf.

c) In 2002, AK Party came into power with the chief objective of freeing market and eliminates the corruption. People gagged that they’re electing Taliban

d) At time, Islamist, Abdullah Gul became the president. His government also arrested the girl with short dress. At that time, there was many misunderstanding and unawareness of Islamic culture. People had wage ideas and thinking about Islam like suicide bombing and being a gay est.

e) After that, Mr. Erdogan wants to “Modernize” the constitution which would get rid of the headscarf ban at universities. Many women who supported Mr. Erdogan against the army become worried.

f) Turkey matters enormously to two big debates about religion in public life. The first one was specifically to do with Islam and the second one was where to differentiate Islam and modern state.

g) The main argument that is still going on is the doctrinal split of Sunnis and Shias.

h) People were engaged in some linkage kinds of activities like Sunnis were associated with Saudi Arabia and Shias were associated with Iran and Iraq.

i) The more complex concern has to do with how much Islam should become accustomed to the modern world?

j) To adopt those practices which are not a part of Islamic culture or Islamic belief. Like, to lead a prayer of male by a female and the other one is to give Azaan in skirt with no care of veil ness.

k) Westerns are always willing to split the Muslims between traditionalist and modernizers.

3. Conclusion:I just concluded that whatever the government is doing in Turkey, Muslims of Turkey are always to adopt traditional Islamic culture. One more point that needs to be discussed that in this report, you’ll see the different believes of traditionalist and modernizers. Enemies of Muslims are taking the advantage of this thing and trying to split them into different sectors means different believes. It’s very harmful for whole Muslim nation. The era of Ottomans is considered to be very good and ideal. The tape of the Turkish culture is rewinding gradually which could be very useful for the Turkish nation.
