Would you like to have a 60 second spot on radio? Come up with a catchy 4-H pro-

motional announcement and you could. The Public Service Announcement contest is

April 6, in conjunction with the 4-H Speech Contest.

All PSA’s are 60 seconds in length and must promote 4-H and be general enough to

be used anywhere in Nebraska at any time of the year. Divisions and ages are the

same as listed for the speech contest.

All PSA’s will use the state theme “4-H Grows” as the basis for the announcement.

PSA’s must include the following tagline within the last 10 seconds of the PSA: “Learn more about the Nebraska Extension 4-H Youth Development Program at 4h.unl.edu.” The tagline is included in the 60

second time limit.

Sound effects and public domain music may be used. Copyrighted material may not be used.

PSAs should be pre-recorded (mp3 or other appropriate format) and submitted on a thumb drive or cd. They

will be judged at the Speech Contest, April 6. Winners in Junior, Intermediate and Senior Divisions are eli-

gible to compete in the regional contest. Regional PSA winners will be used as promos for Nebraska 4-H.

Grow a Beautiful Space series

The Grow a Beautiful Space series is designed to teach youth how to recognize and create beautiful and functional landscapes. In addition to landscape de-sign, youth will discover career opportunities related to the discovery, use, and management of plants.

Each unit includes an interactive youth manual and a leader's guide. Grow a Beautiful Space Unit I and Unit II also include a separate portfolio for youth to store notes, photographs, and sketches. In Grow a Beautiful Space Unit III, youth will cre-ate their own portfolio to store their landscape drawings. This series is sold as digital downloads. 2015 Butler County Fair July 21—26

We have a jar for YOU! The 2015 4-H Club Exhibit will be a gallon jar with a farm display inside. Each club will create an artistic representation of their experience of farming and rural life. Your imagination will be your guide.

Examples could be a cozy bed of straw with eggs and fuzzy chicks; layers of seeds; or growing plants/terrarium style. The jar can be displayed upright or laying on it’s side.

Gallon jars are available at the extension office. The 2015 fair theme, “Down Home on the Farm”, and the club exhibit are an outreach project of the Bone Creek Art Muse-um exhibition, Ballad of the Farm: Then, Now, Tomorrow.
