• Everyone likes a vacation! Read these words and expressions that will help you talk about the different activities you can do while on vacation.

Buying Souvenirs

• The local markets where you’re visiting are fun places to shop. Read the following e–mail to learn several words and expressions you can use to talk about what you can buy.

Hola, Jorge:

This summer I would like to (quisiera) visit new places and shop at the local markets (mercados). There you can fi nd many souvenirs (recuerdos), including jewelry (joyas) such as necklaces (collares), silver earrings (aretes de plata), and gold rings (anillos de oro). Also, you can fi nd handicrafts (artesanías) such as ceramics (cerámicas) and articles made of wood (artículos de madera). Many of these items are of good quality (calidad) and often inexpensive (baratos). It’s important to know how to bargain (regatear) to make sure that you don’t pay too much (demasiado)! And you, what are your plans for the summer?
