All wire conforms to ASTM A951-96. This specification covers themanufacturing guidelines and minimum weld strength,required formasonry joint reinforcement.

ACI 530 Code recommends mill galvanized ASTM A641 (0.1 oz/ft2)(0.031 kg/m2) for joint reinforcement in interior walls. For cavity andexterior walls hot dipped galvanized ASTM A153 (1.5 oz/ft2) (458 g/m2) is recommended for joint reinforcement, wire ties, andanchors. Hot dipped is also recommended for interior wallsexposed to a mean relative humidity exceeding 75%. Class I ASTMA641 (0.4 oz/ft2) and Class III (0.8 oz/ft2) are no longer recommendedby ACI 530 for interior walls.

Epoxy coating is not recommended as a protective coating for jointreinforcement, anchors and ties. Manufacturer recommendsStainless Steel Type 304 for maximum corrosion protection.

Finishes Description

Manufacturer’s RecommendationInterior WallsInterior walls, which are non-load bearing, should utilizestandard weight reinforcing with a mill galvanized finish.

Exterior WallsExterior load bearing walls need a three or four-wire systemwith two longitudinal wires in the block and one or two longitudinal wires in the brick as conditions dictate. We rec-ommend hot dipped galvanized after fabrication, ASTM A153 Class B2, where complete protection from corrosion isrequired.

Uneven coursing, or conditions where block is laid first andbrick later, should use the adjustable tab or hook-and-eye sys-tem. An additional advantage to adjustable reinforcing is toprovide a mechanical tie to restrain insulation in a partiallyfilled masonry cavity wall.

HCL-711 AnchorAn adaptation of the popular RJ-711, HCL-711 has threenew pointed prongs which pierce wallboard and abut to back-up (steel stud). 14-gauge prongs allow little or no compressiblemovement where wallboard may deteriorate.

WIRE-BOND ClipThe WIRE-BOND clip conforms to requirements ofUniform Building Codes for seismic zones. Continuouswire is embedded in mortar joint, secured to tie anchorwhich is fastened to support structure.

RJ-711 Adjustable Veneer AnchorPlate is available in either 14 ga. or 12 ga.; wire is 3/16"diameter. Available in mill galvanized, hot dip galvanizedand stainless steel. CoreLock (Pat Pending)New rebar positioner is “seated” 1-1/4” into core of CMU.Diagonal placement in block insures rebar is automatical-ly centered and prevents any possible movement of posi-tioner during rebar installation. Special Products

Plumb-Rite is a T-shaped PVC product that assists in keep-ing vertical joints in precise alignment where control jointsand expansion joints are used in a masonry wall. Plumb-Rite is rigid enough to keep a 3/8" vertical joint consistentlystraight. It is flexible enough -- with a special slotted stem --to allow for expansion of the brick.

Plumb-Rite may be attached to wood, steel, and block back-ups with either nails, screws or mastic. When insulation isused in the cavity, foam board adhesive is simply applied tothe back of the Plumb-Rite and adhered to the insulation.

Mortar Net™ Drainage System U.S. Pat. #5,230,189Mortar Net™ is placed on top of the flashing inside thecavity where it catches and suspends mortar droppingsabove the level of weep holes and flashing. Dovetailshape prevents mortar from forming a continuous dam.Shape of the material, in combination with 90% open plas-tic mesh configuration, allows water and air to moverapidly and easily through material to the weeps.

Cavity should be no more than 1/4" wider than 1.0" and2.0" thick material and 0.4 thick material should touchboth the outer and inner wall, insulation, or filler used toadjust the cavity size.

Weep Vents

Cell VentCell vent consists of many small, adjacent passageways bonded together in one unit. Cellular composi-tion provides easy drainage for moisture along the full height of the head joint. 3/8"W x2-1/2"D x 3-3/8"L. 100 per box. Jumbo sizes (3/8”W x 3-1/2”D x 3-3/8”L) and colors available.

Control JointsControl JointsExtruded from a specially formulated PVC compound with80 durometer hardness conforming to ASTM D 2240. It is designed for use in solid or cavity masonry wall con-struction at pilasters, columns, intersections or other joints. In long walls, control joints at 30-foot intervals are recom-mended to provide resilient resistance to cracking understress of expansion and contraction.
