Prayatna – Humanity outreach organized a selfless service with a smile.

The Prayatna Cell of Department of Science and Humanities and NSS of

SKCET in collaboration with Shanthi Social Service and Unity Leads

organized a Blood Donation Drive today. The drive was presided over by our

respected Principal Madam who appreciated the young minds for proffering

oneself towards the cause. Speaking on the occasion, Dr.V.Ragavi, HOD and

Convenor of the event appreciated the initiatives taken by the youngsters and

extended her gratitude to our Respected Chairperson Madam for sensitizing

students towards developing social sensitivities and being committed to the

welfare of the society. This drive was coordinated by Ms.T.Anitha, Assistant

Professor, S&H.

The hall was abuzz with 253 steady streams of donors, who happily lent a

helping hand to people. Donors were provided with juice, biscuits and fruits to

reenergize themselves. A Certificate was given to each donor as a token of

gratitude. The Department of Science and Humanities received a Certificate

of Appreciation from Mr.Suresh Babu, PRO, Shanthi Social Service,

Mr.Satheesh Kumar and Mr.Lathish, Unity Leads for organising the event.

SIH 2020: 1-ON-1 REVIEW BY PRINCIPAL MADAM

Nurturing a „culture of product innovation and problem solving‟ among

our students is one of the best practices of SKCET. Students are encouraged to

participate in Smart India Hackathon 2020, World’s biggest Open Innovation

Model Contest to help them create world class solutions for challenges faced

within various Ministries, Departments, Industries, PSUs and NGOs.

Principal Madam conducted a One-one review with the student teams

shortlisted for the SIH 2020-Software and Hardware Edition along with

Dr.P.Ashoka Vardhanan, HOD-MECH and Dr.Balakrishnan, HOD-CSBS. Madam

refined the submission contents and harnessed the creativity in each

problem statement by offering valuable suggestions to improve the technical

outcomes.

A Guest Lecture on ‘Data structures in floor planning and introduction to

edge computing‟ has been conducted for III ECE students. Dr K Anitha

Kumar, Associate Professor, IT, PSG College of Technology, resource person

introduced the students to the leap-frogging technology in using Data

structures for designing VLSI floor planning and signal routing.

CIVIL- ONLINE SURVEY OF SWACHH

SURVEKSHAN 2020

Students from Department of Civil Engineering actively involved in the

process of completing the survey forms of Swachh Survekshan 2020, the

world’s largest urban sanitation and cleanliness survey. It has been

instrumental in fostering a spirit of healthy competition among towns and

cities to improve their service delivery to citizens and creating cleaner cities.





EEE - FINAL YEAR PROJECT REVIEW

Project review was conducted for the Final year EEE C section students. The

panel members and the project coordinator reviewed the status of completion

of the project. Suggestions were provided to the students for further

improvisation of the project.

As a part of Swachhata Pakhwada event, a Flashmob event was organized by

the Department of CSBS on 29.01.2020 A pledge was also taken and signed

by the students gathered at the flash mob venue.





MECH- SWACHHATA PAKHWADA EVENTS

As a part of Swachhata Pakhawada events- 2020, the Department of

Mechanical Engineering organized various events - Speech, Poster Making

and Slogan Writing under the theme Water Conservation. The event

witnessed enthusiastic participants from all the departments and created an

awareness among the students on water conservation.

CSBS- SWACHH SURVEKSHAN 2020 - SURVEY

The students of Second year CSE C(TCS) along with the faculty members have

enrolled themselves in Swachh Survekshan 2020, an initiative by the

Government of India. This survey reflects the cleanliness impact of the

residential city by awarding ratings on several criteria.

ECE- SEMINAR ON HIGHER STUDIES

Ms Fahreen, Manager-India operations, University of North Texas (UNT)

discussed with Dr S.Sophia HoD, ECE about the Higher education

opportunities in UNT on 29.01.2020. She addressed the Third year ECE

students regarding various opportunities in Foreign universities and funding

scholarships available for Indian students .





Swachh Survekshan 2020 is conducted by ‘The Ministry of Housing and

Urban Affairs (MoHUA), Government of India’, covering all cities across India.

Around 450 students and faculty members from Department of CSE have

enrolled themselves to rate our city in the survey to make Swachh Survekshan

2020 a success.

A meeting was convened by the Dr.N.Susila, Head of the Department,

Information Technology with the Anna University and AISHE co-ordinators of all

the departments in regard to the portal updation.





SOM – FOREIGN INSTITUTE INTERACTION

Ms.Farheen Memon, Regional Manager, University of North Texas (UNT –

India) visited our campus today and interacted with the faculty members of

School of Management. They also discussed about the course contents for

one credit courses and value based courses.

ORIGIN:

This idiom is based on the 17th practice of a ship’s crew being examined by a

health official and the ship being given a clean bill of health if no infectious

disease was found. A ship had to present this ‘bill’ before landing at a port.

MEANING:

An assurance that someone is healthy.

A decision by someone in authority that a particular thing is in good

condition
