Rover's Mission Searching for treasures, new and rediscovered,

for theatre "off the beaten path."

Rover Dramawerks produces lost or forgotten works of well-known authors, revives excellent scripts that have suffered from lack of exposure,

and discovers unknown gems of the stage.

Get Involved! Rover Dramawerks currently presents six exciting mainstage shows and two One Day Only 10-minute play festivals every season, as well as camps and classes in three North Texas cities, and we are elated about our continued growth! Join us as we grow, won’t you? Volunteers make all of this possible. We are a business. We are an art. We are a community. If you have ever been a part of any of these things, you have the skills we’re looking for! We’re looking for people to join our dynamic Board of Directors, help us write grants, network on Rover’s behalf with local businesses, build sets, join our new guild - if you’ve got a talent, we can probably make use of it! Just give your contact information to the box office or a roving board member and we’ll take it from there. You can also send an email to Rover’s Artistic Director Carol M. Rice at [email protected] for more information or with kudos, questions, or concerns about anything Rover related, too! If you don’t have a lot of extra time, you can still help us out. Use GoodSearch.com when surfing the web (instead of Google), and Rover gets a penny per search. Use GoodShop when you shop online, and we get a percentage of your purchase! There’s even a nifty toolbar you can download that will tell you when you’re visiting a shopping site that will benefit Rover! With COUPONS! And new to the GoodSearch family is GoodDining, which benefits Rover when you eat out at participating restaurants. Check it out today and register, and you can support us without even thinking about it! You can also link your Tom Thumb Reward Card to Rover. Just fill out an application at the store including our account number, 10965, and we’ll get a percentage every time you buy groceries! Every little bit ads up! Another easy way to support Rover is to visit the businesses whose ads appear in our program, and let them know you’re there because you saw them here! You can even buy an ad for YOUR business! Rates start at just $48 for a quarter page, and we have season ads available, too. More than anything though, we love it when you’re here in our audience. We need and appreciate your support and hope to see you again SOON. Be sure to make your tax-deductible donations and buy your season tickets!

There are so many opportunities! You can purchase an ad, sponsor a show, or donate goods and services! Contact Jason Rice, Board President, at [email protected] for more information about how easy it is to sponsor a show at Rover Dramawerks! We also offer very affordable ads in our programs - and this is a captive audience! You can purchase single show ads or ads for the whole season! Does your company provide something Rover could make use of? Labor for our move-ins, printing services, the loan of a moving truck, and food and drink for our volunteers are just a few things we have gratefully received from local businesses. Do you have an empty building we could rehearse or build in, unused laptops, volunteers you could loan us for various duties, or something else? Contact us!

MMM...Cake!

Suzi Cranford is happy to be working with Rover Dramawerks again. Her designs were previously seen in Shakespeare in Hollywood, Around the World in 80 Days, Epic Proportions, Everything in the Garden, Murder at the Orient Burlesque and Written in Time. Cranford is associate designer at Dallas Costume Shoppe. Tim Doyle is currently the Theatre Director at Lakeview Centennial High School and happy to be working on his first show with Rover. He graduated from Midwestern State University with a focus in Theatre and later became a resident company member of Yellow Tape Construction Company in Austin, TX. Tim has written, composed, directed, designed, and performed in original works since high school and has now taught high school for three years. Tim currently lives in Plano and would like to thank Rover and Mikey for this opportunity. Caroline Dubberly is a senior at UNT seeking a BA in theatre. Previous shows at UNT include Ah, Wilderness!, Godspell, Lorca in a Green Dress, Reefer Madness, White Rabbit Red Rabbit, and A Jazz Dream: based on A Midsummer Night's Dream. You may have seen her around the Metroplex in Rent with GLCT, Sweeney Todd with LGA, and Ragtime with Uptown Players and the Turtle Creek Chorale. This fall at UNT, she will be playing Catherine in Proof. Thanks to Mikey and the cast and crew of the show on an amazing experience!! Ian Garland is currently a theater major with focus in light design at UNT. While at UNT, he has designed lighting for In the Blood, Who’s Afraid of Virginia Woolf, Thin Thread Thick Thread, and Synchronized Imbalances. Rae Harvill is roaring with excitement about appearing in Wonder of the World! This is her first production with Rover. She recently appeared in Zombie Prom (Runway Theatre) where she was nominated for a Column Award for Best Featured Actress in a Musical. A WONDROUS thanks to Mikey, Ashley, Colleen and the cast for their great support during this adventurous role for her. She would also like to send her love to her amazing husband Louis and her fabulous friends! Chris Hauge has been performing in the Dallas/FW area for almost 30 years and this is his first appearance at Rover. Good things take time. Favorite roles include Kaufmann in Bach at Liepzig, Nicky in The Sea Farer, Amundson in Terra Nova, Doc in Atomic Cave Girls of Island Zero as well as many others. Chris has performed at the Pocket Sandwich Theatre, Stage West, Circle Theatre, Beardsley Living Theatre, and Ground Zero Theatre to name a few. He is once again honored by playing opposite his lovely wife, Alice Montgomery, his favorite leading lady, and thanks her for her support and thanks their cats for their permission to do this show.

Lindsey Humphries is enjoying doing props for Wonder of the World again, having done the show before in college. At Rover, she has designed costumes for Love in E Flat and the set of The Girls in 509. She is looking forward to stage managing Rover's next show, The Remarkable Mr. Pennypacker. Darcy Koss was spotted by director Jason Rice while working at the Habitat ReStore. He was immediately taken by her innate organizational talent and asked her to become involved. She has lost count how many times she has worked with with Rover previously, but she loves it! “Thank you for this opportunity and for making it fun!” Jeff Mabray is happy to be back working again with Rover. Past Rover productions include Something’s Afoot, Around the World in 80 Days, and Black Comedy. He would like to thank his wife Johanna and children Grayson, Brynna, and Ella for allowing him out of the house long enough to be a part of this production. Alice Montgomery is thrilled to be cast in this hilarious show working with the incredibly creative Mikey Abrams and such a talented cast, particularly her real-life husband, Chris Hauge! Favorite roles include Guys and Dolls and Fool for Love (Southwest Repertory Org. – Sol de Oro Awards), Twilight of the Golds (Theatre Arlington), Psycho Beach Party, Steel Magnolias, and Over the River & Through the Woods, (Pocket Sandwich Theatre), The Philadelphia Story (Garland Civic Theatre), Surviving Grace (Rover Dramawerks - Leon Rabin nomination), Brighton Beach Memoirs (Irving Community Theater - Leon Rabin nomination and Column Award), and Social Security (Frisco Community Theatre – Reggie Award). Michael Speck is back after a two year hiatus from Rover. He was last seen with Rover in Little Mary Sunshine, but is more likely remembered for his tour-de-force performance as Dwight in The Crowd You're In With. He is thrilled to have the opportunity to dig into the guts of a character like Kip. He hopes you like what he found. Laura Warner is delighted and grateful for the opportunity to be part of this Rover Dramawerks production. Thank you, Mikey, Carol, Jason & Rachel! Something of a theater gypsy in the Metroplex, Laura has performed in many works, including To Kill a Mockingbird, Steel Magnolias, The Dixie Swim Club, All Shook Up and sundry others. She asks five things of you…Don’t stop laughing…Don’t stop playing…Don’t stop believing (okay, okay Fleetwood Mac asked first)…and, whatever you do, please don’t stop supporting live theater in North Texas! (Hey, it helps keep this crazy woman off the street!) May you be as blessed by this journey to Niagara Falls as we have been! Ashley H. White is an award winning director. Recent directing credits include the Regional Premiere of A Steady Rain (ICT Theatre on the Edge) and Unnecessary Farce (Onstage in Bedford) for which she won the Column Award for Best Director and the show was chosen as one of the Best Productions of 2012 by The Column. She also directed the U.S. Premieres of Little Red – a Fairytale Opera and Kashchei the Immortal (Millennium Opera Theatre of Dallas). Her directorial work has also been featured in New York at The NY Fringe Festival, the Collective: Unconscious Theatre, Kanvas NYC, The Orange Bear, and other locations. About Tonight’s Play

When Cass discovers a shockingly dirty little secret in her husband's sweater drawer, our heroine has no choice but to flee to the honeymoon capital of the world in a frantic search for the life she thinks she’s missed out on. It’s a wild ride over Niagara Falls in a barrel of laughs as Cass embarks on a journey of self-discovery that has her crossing paths with a blithely suicidal alcoholic, a lonely tour-boat captain, a pair of bickering private detectives and a strange caper involving a gargantuan jar of peanut butter, all of which pushes her perilously close to the water's edge in this hilarious tragicomedy of marital discord run amok. “Exceedingly whimsical and playfully wicked.” - NY Times. By David Lindsay-Abaire, who penned such plays as Rabbit Hole, and Kimberly Akimbo, and the film The Rise of the Guardians.
