Materials AcquisitionThe materials are clay for cer

To get the clay for the mugs they have to dig under the topsoil.

Materials Processing

Different materials are added to the clay from the ground to be more sanitary, to last longer , and look nicer.

Manufacturing•Usually made on clay wheels•Sometimes you fill mold from softened clay •Raw materials are ceramic materials bone china, porcelain, and stoneware

Packaging1. 12 mugs are put in 1

cardboard box without the fluffy stuff

2. 100 or more mugs are put in a huge cardboard box with the fluffy stuff

3. Then they are put in a truck for the star bucks or whatever

Distribution Products are shipped across the country and sometimes the state. They go on trucks and cargo ships.

Use •Most mugs are made from ceramics, or clay, so they can last for a few decades, and still be used as brand new.

•Although they take about 3 times as much energy to design and produce as paper coffee cups, they can last about 100 times as long.

•Ceramic mugs have to be washed after almost every use, so they can take be not-so energy efficient.

Reuse \Recycling•Some ceramic mugs are made out of recycled clay.

•Recycling ceramics can be very expensive, so it isn’t very common.

•Some people take used, unwanted mugs, and use for art and other projects.
