Efforts to rule surrounding countries

False accusing of people

Tax cuts for lower class= more money

Both Nero and Caligula ended up killed

Tried to please lower class

Gave authority to tax to lower commissioners

A fire in Rome occurred in 46 AD

Nero wanted major reconstruction for his city

Became a public enemy Was going to be

executed, but committed suicide

Financial crisis emerged in 39AD

Had used all the support and profit

Began falsely accusing people

Also, began auctioning gladiators lives

He was assassinated

Bad Decisions By President George W. Bush

Won’t sign on to the Kyoto Protocol Tax cuts made by Bush have put our

country in billions of dollars more in debt These tax cuts favored the rich

Results of President Bush’s Bad Decisions

The total US debt in 2008 was $10 trillion This resulted in budget deficits and lower

job growth He is not respected by other countries The US is the only country who has not

tried to sign on to the Kyoto Protocol

Bad Decisions/ Characteristics of President Obama

Has spent millions of dollars on health care reform

Used $787 billion for economic stimulus package

Was an unknown, inexperienced senator Had little to no accomplishments as senator

Similarities in Poor Government Decisions

Tax cuts Efforts for reconstructing/ upgrading

public works Disrespect for presidents/ emperors

Differences in Poor Government Decisions

Bush’s tax cuts favored the rich, Nero’s favored the poor

Roman emperors = killed Bush/ Obama = not killed Unlike Rome, the US is not trying to rule

surrounding countries
