Congratulations on the birth of your baby. We look forward to assisting you in the Baptism and welcoming your child into God’s family.

In addition to the forms that need to be completed in the attached Baptismal Policy, we will need the following: a copy of the baby’s birth certificate, a letter from your parish priest giving you permission to have the baby baptized at the Cathedral, and if this is your first child, you will need to attend a baptismal seminar and we will need a copy of the certificate from the seminar. A stipend of $75.00 is also required.

Please note: The Church requires only one witness for Baptism, but it is customary in the United States to have two godparents. One of these must be a fully initiated, practicing Catholic (that is, has been Baptized, Confirmed, and currently regularly attends Mass and receives Communion.) If the other is not a Catholic, that person must be a baptized Christian and will not be listed as a “Godparent”, but as a “Christian Witness” on the Baptismal certificate. If there are two sponsors, one must be a male and the other a female.

Baptisms normally are performed on Sundays after the 11:00 am Mass. Please indicate your preferred date(s) and we will do our best to accommodate you________________________________
