MEET THE ASSUMPTION CHRISTIMAS PAGEANT PLAYERS

James Andrews, parish Base Musician for Sun. 9:00AM and 5:00PM Masses, husband of Aidan our Cantor and Pageant Director provides some last minute direction and encouragement to our Parish Children in McGrath Hall prior to our Christmas Eve 4:00 PM Pageant. Each year, under the direction of Aidan, our Parish children, encouraged by their parents, participate in the Nativity Story and literally "bring to life" through music, acting, lighting and narration...the Christmas Eve Good News of the Birth of Jesus Christ. This year as you can see, they are dressed to perfection, beautiful Angels, Shepherds, Kings, Sheep, Camel, Donkey, Joseph and Mary making our Christmas Eve Mass joyful. What a wonderful ACT OF SERVICE. Fr. Tom is very grateful and proud of our Children who served at all our Masses, Christmas time and throughout the year. Especially our Lectors, Narrators, Children's Choir, the Pageant Players, their Parents, Joyce, Aidan, Frank and all parents who assisted behind the scenes. Thanks as well to parents who generously provided food and drink for rehearsals and pre Pageant nourishment. You all come together in a wonderful spirit and the parish and Fr. Tom deeply appreciate your making Christmas at Assumption memorable. Thanks to John Videler, professional photographer, parishioner and dad for the two photos displayed. If anyone has photos you are welcome to email them to Michelle [email protected] and if they reproduce clearly for us, we shall do out best to share them in the bulletin, on our Website and in the Church Vestibule. Thanks and Merry Christmas...our Season that ends on Jan. 12th the Feast of the Baptism of Jesus.

A THANK YOU MESSAGE RECEIVED FROM ASSUMPTION'S SOUP LADY,

Ms. Linda Cervero, to Connie Luppino, Social Concerns Ministry

It was a wonderful day on John Street today! We had lots of smiles all around. In addition to soup, we distributed beautiful heavy work socks that were donated by your parish. People were so very grateful to have clean warm socks on their feet. We also gave out toilet paper, which is always a treat. Mike and Ryan Palumbo were terrific in helping wherever they were needed. Next week we'll do hats and more toilet paper as well as gloves. Thank you for everything you do! Hope you have a wonderful, healthy and happy New Year.

Love & Light, Linda

Parking Lot Safety for Sunday 10:10am & Tuesday 4:30pm classes

Parents must come into the building to pick up their child(ren) for safety reasons. Do not drop your child off at the door. We can’t stress enough the importance of adhering to the arrival and departure policy for students. Our parking lot is a very busy place and can become dangerous for the children. The entrance to the school for Religious Education is only through the glass doors marked “Religious Education” which is in the school building located near the lower parking lot of the Church. Please do not park in the upper circle on Burr Road or use that upper entrance. It is for the other schools who also use the building. This entrance is to be used only in an emergency. Thank you. Cathy Romano

On a Spiritual Note . . . Forgiveness of Reality We don’t come to God (or truth or love) by insisting on some ideal worldly order or so-called perfection, but in fact we come “to knowledge of salvation by the experience of forgiveness” (Luke 1:77)—forgiveness of reality itself, of others, of ourselves—for being so ordinary, imperfect, and often disappointing. Many also have to forgive God for not being what they wanted or expected. One reason why I am so attracted to Jesus and then to Francis is that they found God in disorder, in imperfection, in the ordinary, and in the real world—not in any idealized concepts. They were more into losing than winning. But the ego does not like that, so we rearranged much of Christianity to fit our egoic pattern of achievement and climbing. Isn’t it strange that Christians worship a God figure, Jesus, who appears to be clearly losing by every criterion imaginable? And then we spend so much time trying to “win,” succeed, and perform. We even call Jesus’ “losing” the very redemption of the world—yet we run from it. I think Christians have yet to learn the pattern of redemption. It is evil undone much more than evil ever perfectly avoided. It is disorder reconfigured in our hearts and minds—much more than demanding any perfect order to our universe. Much of the Christian religion has largely become “holding on” instead of letting go. But God, it seems to me, does the holding on (to us!), and we must learn the letting go (of everything else). Adapted from The Art of Letting Go: Living the Wisdom of Saint Francis

Assumption Cares Through Service

All Saints Catholic School: A Community of Faith, Knowledge and Service.

Why Choose All Saints Catholic School?

All Saint's is a warm, caring school where values have been instilled in our children at an early age. There is a strong sense of family within All Saints that can be witnessed throughout our classrooms, and seen in our ability to come together in times of need, and through the school's charitable deeds. The excellent education they received has solidly prepared my sons for high school and have provided a great base for their future. -Katie and Jim Campbell

At the end of the month, we’ll begin our Catholic Schools Week observance, the annual celebration of what makes Catholic schools stand out from other educational options. The theme for the National Catholic Schools Week 2014 is “Catholic Schools: Communities of Faith, Knowledge and Service.” This theme expresses our school’s focus on learning about faith, striving for high academic standards, and serving our community. Come see what makes All Saints Catholic School exceptional at one of our open houses: Sunday January 26th 12-2pm, and Monday Jan. 27 from 8:30am-10am 139 West Rocks Road, Norwalk. For more information, visit www.allsaintsnorwalk.com.
