3.0 WORKSHOP AND OFFICE SPACE

4.0 QUALITY MANAGEMENT SYSTEM/ISO 9901 : 2000

We are undergoing training in ISO 9001: 2000 Quality Management Systems for our Fabrication workshop. We have put in place documents for the establishment, imple-mentation, maintenance and improvement of quality management system in compli-ance with ISO 9001 : 2000 Standard requirements.

The Documents we have in place are:-

1. Management Systems Policy Manual

2. Control of Non-Confirming Products

3. Control of Documents and Records

4. Preventive Action

5. Corrective Action

6. Internal Management Systems Audit

We have also conducted in house training for our fabrication workshop on Manufac-turing and process control. Our Personnel are exposed to the:

1. Use of Job cards and Quality control Plans in controlling various stages of Fabrica-tion and installation. The use of Inspection reports, Material cutting lists, Drawing registers and Sketches registers. This is an ISO 9901 requirement and is in clause 7.5.1 (Control of production and service provision).

2. Use of resource checklist and contract Handover documents before commenc-ing projects for sites and the workshop. The form used if there is a query includes technical query and the confirmation of verbal instruction. This is an ISO 9001 requirement and is in clause 7.2.1 (Customer related process)

3. The importance of identification, traceability and product status on the various projects being done in the workshop to indicate the inspection status by use of stickers, labels, markers and location. This is an ISO 9001 requirement and is in clause 7.5.3 (Identification and traceability)

4. Use of forms like the non-conformance report and concession request. This is an ISO (001 requirements and is in clause 8.3 (Control of nonconforming product).

The training and implementation in ISO 9001 : 2000 Quality Management systems is still going on until we perfect our Quality system. We will later call external auditor to review our systems. All interested parties are free to come and inspect our surveillance records by our quality Assurance Department for the manufactured products.



5.0 SAFETY

Our staffs has undergone training in Site Hazard Awareness Induction training with KCM (IRCA), Indeni, BP (Z) Plc, Mobil, Kafironda ICI Limited, Chambishi Metals Plc, and they fully understand and implement the required Safety Standards.

Our Site Personnel at KCM Smelter co have attended IRCA Safety courses at the Safe-ty Training School and have been awarded Certificates. Our Workshop Personnel receive in-house training and are given Safety Talk (Tool Box Talk) everyday prior to commencement of work.

Contractual Management Safety Standards are a priority at Meltcast Engineering. We provide Policy Leadership to our workers, particularly those working at the Petrol – Chemical Plants to know how to eliminate/prevent incidents (risks), how to prepare for emergencies and what to do during emergencies.
