Dear Resident

CITYLINK TULLA WIDENING: TREE REMOVAL WORKS IN YOUR AREA – 14 JUNE 2016

We are writing to update you about some further vegetation clearing works that will take place on Tuesday 14 June at the CityLink Tulla Widening site facilities in Strathmore.

Late last year CPB Contractors, the construction company delivering the works, established site facilities at the corner of Pascoe Vale Road and the Bell Street exit ramp. To provide a safe environment for truck access and lay down of equipment, three trees within the site area need to be cleared.

All necessary approvals have been sought for the removal of these trees, which is being completed in close consultation with the nearby Strathmore Secondary College.

Where we will beWe will be working in the area shown on the map below.

Tree removal location

When works will occurThese works will occur between the hours of 7am to 6pm on Tuesday 14 June 2016.

What we are doingTo provide a safe environment for construction vehicles and machinery to enter the site facilities three trees need to be removed. This will involve: Using an arborist to remove the trees Using a truck mounted mulching machine

What to expect A small team of construction personnel at work Noise from chainsaws, mulching machinery, and a vacuum truck when in use

About the projectAs you may be aware, work on the CityLink Tulla Widening project is underway and involves adding lanes and other measures to improve the flow of traffic across the 24 kilometre section of freeway from the CityLink tunnels to Melbourne Airport. The project will provide travel time savings per trip between Melbourne Airport and the West Gate Freeway during peak periods.

Generally, an additional lane is being added in each direction, as well as upgrades at key interchanges including Bell Street, Mount Alexander Road / Flemington Road and on the Bolte Bridge to West Gate Freeway entry ramp. Once completed, the project will deliver a safer, more reliable freeway.

Managing and protecting the environment is important to us and we are working with local and state government to adhere to environmental laws and ensure the impact to the natural ecosystem is minimised. A detailed landscape plan is being developed that will see approximately 150,000 new shrubs and trees planted as part of the CityLink Tulla Widening reinstatement works.

We apologise for any inconvenience and appreciate your understanding. We are committed to keeping residents informed, while keeping the community and our workers safe at all times.
