THE SANTA CRUZ COUNTY VOLUNTEER CENTER Looking for a meaningful way to give back this holiday season? The Volunteer Center has a number of organizations that will welcome your help and donations. Visit their website at www.scvolunteercenter.org to learn more. Here’s a few suggestions…

ADOPT A FAMILY PROJECT THROUGH DEC 16As our days grow shorter, many of us shift our thoughts to sharing the joy of the holiday season. Unfortunately, an unprecedented number of Santa Cruz County families are struggling with poverty, disabilities, abandonment, or severe economic strain and the holidays can be a worrisome time. These families struggle to meet their basic needs and may go without enough food and warm clothing, let alone toys or other holiday gifts. The 400 families in the Adopt a Family program are screened and referred by 22 partner organizations to ensure that your gift is reaching the neediest in our community. Businesses, individuals, and families can adopt a family of any size. Adopters are asked to provide family packages which include food gift certificates, clothing for the family, a gift for each child, and household items like blankets, towels, or sheets.Phone lines will open through Dec 16 Santa Cruz: 831-457-9834 Mon- Fri 10am- 4pm Watsonville: 831-722-2364 Mon-Thurs 10am- 2pm
