CALL FOR ABSTRACTSThe Children’s Hospital of Philadelphia Global Health Center is accepting abstracts for presentation at our conference, Making Up for Lost Time: Addressing Children’s Needs Post-Pandemic, to be held Friday and Saturday, Oct. 29 – 30, 2021. Abstracts may be related to any aspect of global child health, though we are particularly interested in those focusing on addressing children’s needs post-pandemic. Abstracts in the categories of original research, program evaluation/public health, quality improvement, clinical care and personal narratives will be considered. Please note, personal narratives must include background, summary of experience and key takeaways from your experience in a global setting such as providing care to children while working to mitigate the impact of COVID-19.

Submitted abstracts should address any aspect of global child health — either “global-global” or “local-global.” The themes below link to this year’s topic and are provided to stimulate thought as you prepare to submit and share your work:

• Strengthening health systems to meet the demand for delayed care, improve and maintain infection prevention and control measures, and promote innovative interventions developed during the pandemic to improve care delivery

• Prioritizing the development and implementation of mental health services to address children’s and adolescents’ mental health needs

• Mitigating the impact of disrupted learning and unequal access to virtual education on children and adolescents

• Addressing inequities in the social determinants of health to promote global child health and wellbeing

• Other topics of interest to the pediatric global health community

ABSTRACT SELECTION PROCESSAbstracts will be selected for presentation based on quality, merit and relevance to the pediatric global health community. Projects may be in various stages of development. Abstracts will be accepted for oral poster and short-oral presentations, and an Abstract Review Committee will determine acceptance following blinded peer review.

The Abstract Review Committee will review abstract submissions based on the following criteria:

• Relevance of topic• Originality• Pediatric global health merit and importance• Quality of research design and data analysis • Quality of conclusions• Clarity of writing
