structured exam sessions so eachstudent can do his/her best.   If the

testing session ends early, you will beable to leave once exams are turned in. We have shortened the volunteer timeslots to encourage more participation.

Students who earned the Presidential ServiceAward will be honored at the final PTSA meetingon MONDAY, May 23rd at 6:30.  A photo will betaken for the press release on the auditoriumsteps at 6:20.  Seniors will wear their medalsalong with their caps and gowns at Baccalaureateand Graduation.

Congratulations to the BoysTennis Team

The Boys Tennis Team made it to the State Sem­Finals this past week.  Unfortunately, the team lostto Greensboro Page by the slimiest of margins, 5­4.  In the past eight years, the team has: Won eight straight CPC Conference titles Made seven Western Region Finals Had six State Championship Appearances  Won three State Championships  

Attn NHS students:   Any one who purchased an NHSstole and would like to donate it toRJR can return it to Ms. Ziehl aftergraduation outside of the coliseum!

The competition was between teachers in all 20 magnet schools. Oneteacher and one principal were selected to represent the district and

go to the Magnet Schools of America Conference in Miami.

290 Quarter­finalists Selected tor 2017 MusicEducator Award www.grammyintheschools.com A total of 290 music teachers from 264 citiesacross 41 states have been announced asquarter­finalists for the Music Educator Awardpresented by The Recording Academy and theGRAMMY Foundation. In total, more than 3,300initial nominations were submitted from all 50states. The Music Educator Award wasestablished to recognize current educators(kindergarten through college, public and privateschools) who have made a significant andlasting contribution to the field of musiceducation and who demonstrate a commitmentto the broader cause of maintaining musiceducation in the schools.

Stephen Langford Promise Award Winner

It has been another year of creating portraits for the memory project ­­a project made possible by the kindness of former RJR teacher AngelCaudill. This year, Drawing 2 students worked with an orphanage inBolivia. If you have a minute, check out the video link below and alsothe images of some of the children receiving their portraits from ourstudents. The memory project also has other programs where classescan make journals to send to orphanages as well as other projects forthe less creative. If you are interested, check them out. It is always

rewarding for students to see the impact they can have on others

rewarding for students to see the impact they can have on othersaround the world. Ms. Caudill has been working with them for about 12years now and has had nothing but great experiences. The programintegrates humanitarian causes with art, world cultures, and foreignlanguage. If you need to "feel the feels for real", the video is heartfelt,uplifting, and touching.

ATHLETICSSummer Practices 

Summer workouts will begin on June 13th for all rising 9th­12th graders.  Please contact the coach for times, dates andlocations. 

Wristbands for August tryouts will be given out in late July. There will be emails and robocalls sent home to let you knowthe days and times.  All athletes who want to play a fall sportwill need a wristband to try out. 

August 1st is the first day of fall tryouts and practices for thefollowing teams: Football, Field Hockey, Cross Country, GirlsTennis, Girls Golf, Boys Soccer, Volleyball, Cheerleading andDancing Boots.
