2.1. SECTION OVERVIEW This section is essential reading as it provides the following activities:
• Create New Marketing Plan
• Update Marketing Plan
• Finalise Marketing Plan
2.2. ABOUT GMS MARKETING PLAN Marketing Plan is a documented plan presenting determined advertising, promotional, sales tools and activities. The Marketing Assistants/Associates prepares marketing plans for forthcoming titles.
The plan describes how a Marketing Associate/Assistant intends to promote or advertise a title to obtain the best price within a reasonable time. It is the blueprint for implementing and controlling the marketing activities relating to a particular marketing strategy.
Therefore, a GMS marketing plan is a selling plan for Cambridge titles involving the following areas:
• Catalogue Display
• Defined Readership
• Efficient Distribution
• Effective Promotion
• Cost-effective Timeline
• Demand-creating Activities

NOTE: This field allows you to select which bibliographic options you want to view or update - Catalog, Marketing Plan, or Subject Information.
Details on these options are provided in Section 2.2 Update Marketing Plan.

In the Edition field, if the number is 0 or 1, the edition number is not displayed in the preview flyer. Otherwise, the edition is displayed below the title in alphanumeric format. See sample image in the next page.

Why Subject Information page is important:
• Shows all assigned vista codes to be associated with a title.
• It is an important page since it is central in adding your marketing activities correctly.
• Vista Codes for books prior to signing contracts are fed onto this page.
• Subject codes can be added when necessary.
• Adding appropriate vista codes will ensure that any marketing piece for any subject area will pick up their respective titles in their searches.
• It is key and essential to the cross-marketing of titles between subject areas (especially outside of your own)

NOTE: If you prefer to make custom changes to these details you may skip the tailor marketing strategy steps and directly edit this section.

Follow procedure below to Update Marketing Activity section. This section assumes that we will update Marketing Activity section by going through each of the activities outlined.

NOTE: Once you have finalised the Marketing Plan, the Bibliographic View option will become Marketing Summary (see enlarged image above).
Marketing Plan Status also changes from Pending to Finalized.

• If RTF go to Section 2.8.1.
• If PDF go to Section 2.8.2.
