Mrs Gilderdale has a long association with the school having been a grandmother to two granddaughters who attended CBS. Mrs Gilderdale and her late husband, Alan, respectively wrote and illustrated the much loved Little Digger series with The Little Yellow Digger Goes to School, featuring CBS, being a particular favourite at our school. The opening was a festive occasion with, almost, a cast of hundreds to witness the re-birth of this area of the school. Particular thanks to Mrs Gilderdale for officiating, to chairperson of the Board of Trustees Vicki Caisley for speaking, to our kapa haka group for their performance and to Euphymea Lavelle for her mihi. As a school we are blessed with the support we receive from our community. Nikki Urlich was quite appropriately the master of ceremonies and right at the heart of the opening as she has been the driving force behind the project. It was also wonderful to see former deputy principal, Teresa Burn, and IT and library champion, Lynley Ainsworth, in attendance. (Lynley had just returned from a three week visit to China having just retired from teaching). Do take the time to visit the library learning hub. It is an asset to our school.

Graduation of our Teachers We were very proud to be given the opportunity to take part in our graduation, celebrating our achievement in becoming primary teachers. We started our morning with a procession up Queen Street which ended with the formal ceremony in the evening. We were fortunate to have fantastic weather all day. It was an exceptional and special day celebrating years of hard work. Victoria Fuller

New Garden Planter Boxes A big thanks to Pete Broughton and Fraser Aitken, who spent an afternoon making six new planter boxes for the Year 3 Plant to Taste Garden. Olivia and Mia, seen here with their dad Pete, did a wonderful job. Already the new boxes are being put to use, but the Year 4 students need more planter boxes! Are you handy and could spare a couple of hours making some? If you can please contact the school office. Thanks again to Pete, Fraser and their families.

Super 'Travelwisers' Alanah and Huntly Barwick were spotted riding their scooters to school during Road Safety Week and won visibility vests!

Keep being Travelwise CBS!
