Storyboard  Version  –  2.1  

Shot No : 1 VO : Meet the Johnsons and the Andersons.

Action: As the video begins, we introduce our two families: the Johnsons and the Andersons. When mentioned by the VO each family reacts (the Johnsons show proud expressions while the Andersons give a friendly wave.

Transition: Scene continues.

Shot No : 2 VO : Both families have been waiting all year for camping season to come back around..

Action: A calendar appears at the top of the screen by the split line. Instead of months, it is labeled with names of seasons, and both families watch eagerly as the pages flip from Summer, Autumn, Winter to Spring.

Transition: Scene continues.

Shot No : 3 VO : and the minute spring sprung,

Transition: Cut shot.

Action: When the calendar changes to Spring, the families change to their camping clothes. Both families are excited to go.

Shot No : 4

VO : they hopped in their cars and headed straight for their favorite campsite.

Transition: Cut shot.

Action: Both families are in their cars now, though the split screen remains. Everyone looks excited.

Shot No : 5 VO : After busy first day, it was time for the Johnsons to go to bed.

Transition: Scene continues.

Action: We focus on the Johnsons first, as we skip ahead to nighttime. After the long day, the Johnsons try to put out the fire before going to bed.

Shot No : 6 VO : Being responsible campers they worked hard to put out the fire.

Transition: Scene continues.

Action: Though they are being responsible about fire safety, the conventional method (i.e. pouring water and spreading dirt to ensure the embers are extinguished) proves difficult. We see a lot of smoke coming off the fire which refuses to go out. The family are coughing due to smoke.

Shot No : 7 VO : After they went to bed, they worried if they did enough to put out the fire.

Transition: Cut shot.

Action: We now see the family laying in sleeping bags along with the kids but they are still stressing about the about the embers outside, unable to go to sleep.

Shot No : 8a VO : Meanwhile, the Andersons just staked down their Campfire Defender,

Notes for the Graphic designer and Animator: Please  make  sure  to  review  reference  images  below.  Also,  the  canvas  carrying  bag  will  be  a  dark  tan  color,  not  grey.    This  was  just  a  prototype.  

Action: In contrast, this is a quick short scene with the Andersons, shows the father placing the Campfire Defender over the fire pit using gloves, before they go to sleep.

Transition: Cut shot.

Shot No : 8b VO : Meanwhile, the Andersons just staked down their Campfire Defender,

Shot No : 9 VO : climbed into their sleeping bags and drifted into….

Transition: Cut shot.

Action: Cutting ahead to the Andersons in their sleeping bags, we see that they aren’t worried at all and were easily able to go to sleep.

Shot No : 10 VO : a restful night of sleep.

Transition: Camera pans to left.

Action: Back outside, we see the campfire defender is working perfectly while the family is sound asleep.

Shot No : 11a VO : Each day, the Johnsons kept running into.

Transition: Scene continues.

Action: We cut back to the Johnsons and show that they have to go through the same difficult process to set off the fire once again. It’s clear they are doing more managing of the campsite than enjoying the camping experience

Shot No : 11b VO : the same old problems with their campfire.

Transition: Cut shot.

Action: This continues the previous scene, where the mother is throwing the dirt she had scooped up into the fire. The other members of the family also continue their efforts.

Shot No : 12 VO : rebuilding the fire in a muddy pit each morning in the bitter cold, trying to keep it lit when the weather wouldn’t cooperate,

Transition: Cut shot.

Action: We skip ahead to the next morning when the Johnsons have to set up the fire again. It poses a challenge, as the pit is muddy from putting the out previously, and in the meantime, the kids are shivering cold due to a chilling wind. The sun appears lower in horizon and in the left hand of the scene storm clouds brew as the wind kicks up.

Shot No : 13 VO : and most importantly – trying to not burn the entire forest down when the wind blew through.

Transition:

Action: Outside their tent at night, we see how the weather can be unpredictable and start a forest fire if left unattended. The wind picks up a spark from the pit and carries it to the tree line, starting a fire.

Shot No : 14 VO : But the Andersons? The Campfire Defender kept their coals hot, the fire burning and their favorite forest protected.

Animation note: Please  make  sure  to  animate  the  bag  to  make  it  stand  out  when  VO  says  “The  campfire  defender”.

Action: Now back to the Andersons, who can spend more time together and enjoying their trip since they can quickly get a fire going and under control.

Transition: Camera pans to the bottom.

Shot No : 15 VO : And thanks to the TreeForOne program…

Action: As soon as the VO says “program”, the bag moves down and the camera follows it to a new scene.

Transition: Camera pans down

Shot No : 16 VO : , each Campfire Defender purchased, a tree is planted

Action: The bag lands in a shopping cart to represent a purchase being made. An equals sign appears, linking the purchase of the Campfire Defender to a tree, reinforcing the VO about this environmentally conscious benefit.

Transition: Zoom out.

Shot No : 17 VO : to rebuild our forests for future generations.

Transition: Cut Shot.

Action: The tree from last shot morphs into one of the trees at the right side of the mountain and we see new trees are popping up and covering the barren area at right side. Some animals are visible, standing on the left side the barren land but after seeing greenery they all start running towards the healthy new area at the right “Happy, healthy wild life in new forests” appears as text across the top.

Shot No : 18 VO : In 2015, 58,916 human-caused wildfires burned over 2 million acres in the United States alone.

Transition: Zoom in.

Action: A map of the US appears and animated fire icons populate the map to depicts the locations of fire affected areas. The statistic mentioned in the VO appears as text across the top of the screen. At the bottom we cite the source of the fact

Shot No : 19 VO : Protect and Preserve our forests

Action: Now we show a tight shot of a limited section of the logo, along with the text “Protect” and “Preserve” pop up.

Transition: Zoom out.

Shot No : 20 VO : with the Campfire Defender.

Action: The previous shot zooms out, revealing the complete logo, before the website URL is typed in to conclude the video/

Transition: Cut end.
