About The Big Event Camping the Night AwayThe Big Event is a casual evening of live entertainment, cocktails, delicious food, and silent & live auctions filled with items for just about everyone. The first Big Event was held in February of 2011.

About Children’s Cancer ConnectionChildren’s Cancer Connection is a non-profit organization that enhances the lives of families affected by childhood cancer by providing programs for education, recreation, and support. The organization has provided support services and programs for children with cancer and their families since its first camps in 1988.

The organization provides the only week-long summer camps in Iowa devoted exclusively to children with cancer, and the sibling program is one of the few offered nationwide. Approximately 300 children attend the annual camp programs, which give each child a week filled with fun and adventure. The camps are provided free of charge to these deserving children. Children with cancer — as well as their siblings — spend time with other children who can honestly say, “I understand how you feel.” For the recently diagnosed child, it is a chance to talk with someone who has had cancer and to know that there is hope.

Children’s Cancer Connection also provides support groups, family outings to events such as Disney on Ice, weekend retreats for an additional 450 family members, hospital-based programs, a lending library and a survivorship program.

Our services are available to all children who are diagnosed, treated or living in Iowa. This includes children from surrounding states.

Silent AuctionThe silent auction opens for viewing and bidding at 6:00 p.m. and closes at 8:00 p.m.

Write your bid number and bid amount on the first blank line on the bid sheet that accompanies the auction item you want to purchase.

Please honor the minimum bid. Each succeeding bid must be $10 higher than the last written bid.

The last person who has a written bid, thus the highest bid, is declared the buyer.

Live AuctionThe live auction begins at 8:15 p.m.

When bidding on an item, raise your number visibly to the auctioneer or spotters.

Payment and Sales ConditionsPayment for all items purchased by the bidder must be made at the conclusion of the auction event or before the bidder leaves the auction. Cash, Check, MasterCard or Visa are methods of payment.

Since all sales are final, there can be no cancellations or refunds.
