Lois not only had to contend with very cold and miserable weather but, her opponent, David Kimber’s determination and tenacity was something to see on the day. Lois kept her head and continued to draw, draw, and draw. While David had a few fast runners at the head, which unfortunately missed their mark and he ended up dropping a couple of multiples. All games in the Championship were quite close with excellent bowling executed by all participants. Hopefully there will be more contenders next time. Mens Triples 27 July A cold morning start, before becoming a beautiful day for bowls, saw the Triples semifinal between Sam Brudaglio, Carlo Rossi and David Kimber take on Richie Moir, Duncan Turner, and Steve Gregory in a close, lowscoring game. A couple of multiples for Steve’s team towards the end left David’s team needing 6 on the last end which, ultimately, was just out of reach. Congrats on a good game fellas. Steve’s victorious team then backed up to play the Final against Mark Dulihanty, Barry Freebody, and Greg Pickup in warm sunshine. Great bowls were played by all involved, but despite a few multiples and a late rally from Steve’s team, Greg Pickup’s team managed to get home by 8 shots. Our Mens Triple Champions for 2013: Mark Dulihanty – Barry Freebody – Greg Pickup Runners up: Richie MoirDuncan Turner Steve Gregory Lois Waters creeping up on her opponent during the CoCC Singles. Our Club was represented in the Champion of Club Champions over the last two weekends of July. First up in the Men’s Singles, Barry Freebody went down to the eventual winner at Belconnen on Sunday 21 st July. The Men’s Pairs had Mick O’Brien and Allan Morgan up against the home team at Yass last weekend. The lads tried their best but were no match in the end. After winning her first round in the Women’s Singles at Weston Creek on Tuesday 23 rd July, Lois Waters continued in good form over at Yowani on Saturday to win both of the next two rounds, beating both Sue Bush from Yass and Nichole Mengel from Belconnen. Lois will face Weston Creek’s Margaret Bacchetto on Saturday 3 rd August at Yowani in the final, 11.00 am start.

. The Women’s CoCC Pairs saw Gil Stenner and Julie Hancock come from behind to defeat a very strong team from Belconnen. Sadly, they went down in the second round by one shot to the West Deakin Hellenic Club team of Sharon and Kristen Steele. It was good to see the Club support team attending where possible. Well done everyone.
