Four performers presented the show ‘March of the Fire Ants’. The performance was based on poetry of Paul Kopetz. Opera singing, and instruments bring to life the sorts of sounds you may hear in the Australian backyard e.g lorikeets, cicadas and ants. The children were an excellent audience. Bell Shakespeare Workshop – Change (Magic and Mayhem) All spaces for the Belle Shakespeare workshop in week 10 have been filled. Thank you everyone who returned their notes. There has been a change of the production that Bell Shakespeare are bringing out to us. Rather than ‘Lovers and Tyrants’, we now have a workshop called ‘Magic and Mayhem’. This is a workshop that contains fairies, witches, wizards, spells and plenty of mischief. Reminder - Safe on Social Media Presentation @ Orange High School A further reminder for interested parents about the ‘Safe on Social Media’ face-to-face presentation. The presentation covers social media use including cyberbullying and gaming dangers as well as privacy settings, posting photos, identify theft and managing digital footprints. It is happening on Thursday 13th June at 6.30pm in the Orange High School library. It is intended for parents only; not students. An information flyer for this presentation has been sent home last week with students in Years 3 – 6. Uniform labelled As we have many items of new clothing handed in lately, we just remind all parents to ensure all clothing is clearly marked with your children’s names. That way we will have happier children, parents and teachers. Before school mornings With the mornings being a busy time for parents and teachers, it presents an excellent opportunity to encourage independence in our children and get them to walk into the school gate and up to class on their own, unless of course you have a prior reason to come in. This allows a better flow of parking in the mornings, clearer preparation for teachers and an opportunity for our young students to feel and act grown up. Glenn Family It is with great sadness that we inform the Canobolas community that Michael Glenn, Alex’s father, died on the weekend in hospital in Sydney. This is a very sad and difficult time for the family. Thank you to many in our community who have already provided support. If you too would like to support Tatyana and Alex, please see the note going home with students today for details. It will be greatly appreciated. Thank you.
