7. EQUIPMENT LOCATION: BACKFLOW PREVENTER, IRRIGATION CONTROLLER AND ELECTRIC METER, SENSOR ARE TOBE LOCATED TOGETHER IN A MULCHED PLANTER BED WITHIN THE MEDIAN. FINAL LOCATION OF EQUIPMENT SHALLBE APPROVED BY THE CITY REPRESENTATIVE PRIOR TO INSTALLATION. IRRIGATION CONTROL AND CONNECTIONEQUIPMENT SHALL NOT BE SPRAYED ON. 2. THE CONTRACTOR SHALL PROVIDE ALL LABOR, MATERIALS AND EQUIPMENT NECESSARY TO INSTALL THEIMPROVEMENTS SHOWN ON THE PLANS.

3. THE CONTRACTOR ASSUMES ALL LIABILITY ASSOCIATED WITH THE MODIFICATION OF THE IRRIGATION SYSTEMDESIGN WITHOUT NOTIFYING THE CITY REPRESENTATIVE.

4. ALL IRRIGATION EQUIPMENT IS TO BE AS SPECIFIED OR APPROVED EQUAL PER THE DISCRETION OF THE CITYREPRESENTATIVE.

5. IT IS THE CONTRACTOR'S RESPONSIBILITY TO CONDUCT A THOROUGH SITE INSPECTION AND REVIEW OF THEPROJECT CONSTRUCTION DOCUMENTS INCLUDING BUT NOT LIMITED TO THE FOLLOWING: LANDSCAPE PLAN, UTILITYPLAN, CIVIL PLAN, GRADING AND DRAINAGE PLAN AND ALL OTHER ASSOCIATED PLANS THAT AFFECT THIS WORKPRIOR TO BEGINNING CONSTRUCTION. IF THE CONTRACTOR OBSERVES ANY DISCREPANCIES AMONG THECONSTRUCTION DOCUMENTS AND THE EXISTING CONDITIONS ON SITE, IT IS THEIR RESPONSIBILITY TO CONTACT THECITY REPRESENTATIVE IMMEDIATELY.

6. THE CONTRACTOR SHALL CONFORM TO ALL LOCAL AND STATE REGULATIONS AND INSTALL THE IRRIGATION SYSTEMAND ITS COMPONENTS PER THE MANUFACTURER'S SPECIFICATIONS. THE CONTRACTOR SHALL OBTAIN AND PROVIDEPAYMENT FOR ALL PERMITS REQUIRED BY ANY LOCAL AND STATE AGENCIES AND UTILITY COMPANIES HAVINGJURISDICTION OVER THIS SITE.

7. CONTRACTOR IS RESPONSIBLE FOR SCHEDULING AND PAYING FOR TESTING OF THE BACKFLOW PREVENTER BY ASTATE CERTIFIED INSPECTOR. CONTRACTOR SHALL PROVIDE CERTIFICATES TO CITY REPRESENTATIVE.

8. THE CONTRACTOR MUST VERIFY THE LOCATION OF ALL UNDERGROUND UTILITIES PRIOR TO CONSTRUCTION. IF THECONTRACTOR FAILS TO DO SO AND DAMAGES ANY UNDERGROUND UTILITIES THROUGH THE COURSE OF HIS WORKTHE CONTRACTOR SHALL PAY FOR ANY REPAIR WORK ASSOCIATED WITH SAID DAMAGES.

9. IT IS THE INTENT OF THIS DESIGN THAT ALL IRRIGATION EQUIPMENT BE INSTALLED WITHIN LANDSCAPE AREAS ANDWITHIN THE PROJECT LIMITS. EQUIPMENT SHOWN OUTSIDE OF THESE LIMITS IS SHOWN FOR GRAPHIC CLARITY ONLY.IF THERE IS A QUESTION REGARDING THE LOCATION OF ANY COMPONENT OF THE IRRIGATION SYSTEM, IT IS THECONTRACTOR'S RESPONSIBILITY TO CONTACT THE CITY REPRESENTATIVE. IF THE CONTRACTOR NEGLECTS TONOTIFY THE NECESSARY PARTIES, THE CONTRACTOR SHALL PAY FOR ANY REPLACEMENT OR MODIFICATION TOINSURE PROPER LOCATION AND OPERATION OF THE IRRIGATION SYSTEM AND ITS COMPONENTS.

10. ALL VALVE BOXES AND LIDS SHALL BE PLASTIC WITH SELF LOCKING COVERS. LID COLOR TO BE GREEN. INSTALL PERTHE CONSTRUCTION DETAILS. DO NOT INSTALL IN PAVED AREAS.

11. ALL VALVE BOXES SHALL BE INSTALLED A MINIMUM OF 1'-0" FROM THE EDGE OF PAVED SURFACES AND 3'-0" FROMTHE CENTERLINE OF DRAINAGE SWALES OR RETENTION BASINS.THE CONTRACTOR SHALL ADJUST ALL VALVE BOXESTO BE FLUSH FINISH GRADE.

12. GROUNDING FOR THE IRRIGATION CONTROLLER IS TO BE INSTALLED PER CITY OF THORNTON SPECIFICATIONS, THEMANUFACTURER'S SPECIFICATIONS AND PER THE AMERICAN SOCIETY OF IRRIGATION CONSULTANTS GUIDELINE100-2002 FOR EARTH GROUNDING ELECTRONIC EQUIPMENT IN IRRIGATION SYSTEMS FOUND ATwww.asic.org/Design_Guides.aspx. 13. CONTRACTOR SHALL EXTEND (3) THREE SPARE CONTROLLER WIRES, LOOPED IN EACH VALVE BOX TO THE END OFALL MAINLINE BRANCHES FOR FUTURE EXPANSION CAPABILITY. COIL 24" LENGTH MIN. OF SPARE WIRES IN A 10"ROUND VALVE BOX.

14. CONTROLL WIRE SHALL BE 14GA MIN. UF LISTED, AWG, DIRECT BURY SOLID COPPER WIRE. WIRE SHALL BE TAPEDAND BUNDLED EVERY 10'. PROVIDE 24" LOOPS AT ALL VALVE BOXES, CHANGES IN DIRECTION GREATER THAN 90°, ATBOTH ENDS OF SLEEVES AND AT 100' INTERVALS ALONG CONTINUOUS RUNS OF WIRE.

15. CONTRACTOR SHALL USE UL APPROVED WIRE STRIPPER AND 3M DBY-6 WATERPROOF CONNECTIONS AT ALL SPLICESAND CONNECTIONS POINTS. DO NOT DIRECT BURY CONNECTIONS. ALL CONNECTIONS SHALL BE LOCATED IN A VALVEBOX OR LABELED SPLICE BOX.

16. CONTRACTOR SHALL INSTALL 14GA SINGLE STRAND DIRECT BURY COPPER YELLOW JACKET TRACER WIRE IN ALLIRRIGATION MAINLINE AND LATERAL LINE TRENCHES. TRACER WIRE TO BE ACCESSIBLE IN EVERY VALVE BOX.

17. IT IS THE CONTRACTOR'S RESPONSIBILITY TO ENSURE ADEQUATE VERTICAL SEPARATION BETWEEN ALL IRRIGATIONDISTRIBUTION LINES AND ALL UTILITIES (EXISTING OR PROPOSED), CONDUIT, STORM WATER COMPONENTS, DRAINS,ETC.

18. PLANT MATERIAL LOCATIONS TAKE PRECEDENCE OVER IRRIGATION LINES. COORDINATE INSTALLATION OFIRRIGATION EQUIPMENT SO THAT IT DOES NOT INTERFERE WITH THE PLANTING OF TREES OR OTHER LANDSCAPEMATERIAL INCLUDING PERENNIAL BEDS.

19. THE CONTRACTOR SHALL STAKE THE LOCATION OF THE MAINLINE, CONTROL VALVES, GATE VALVES, AND SHRUBSPRAY LOCATIONS, ETC. AND SCHEDULE A REVIEW WITH THE CITY REPRESENTATIVE PRIOR TO INSTALLATION.

20. CONTRACTOR SHALL FLUSH SYSTEM THOROUGHLY AND EACH ZONE SHALL BE TESTED TO ENSURE PROPEROPERATING PRESSURE AT ALL HEADS IN ZONE.

21. CONTRACTOR SHALL LOCATE ROTOR HEADS A MINIMUM 6" AND ALL SPRAY HEADS A MINIMUM OF 3" FROM ALLPAVING. THE CONTRACTOR SHALL FINE TUNE AND ADJUST NOZZLE DIRECTION AND RADIUS TO REDUCE OVERSPRAYONTO ALL ELECTRICAL COMPONENTS, PAVING OR HARD SURFACES.

22. CONTRACTOR SHALL INSTALL A QUICK COUPLER IN 10" VALVE BOX AT THE END OF ALL BRANCHES OF THE MAINLINE,AT 300' INTERVALS ALONG THE MAINLINE AS SHOWN ON PLANS, FOR MAINTENANCE, WINTERIZATION AND FLUSHINGOF MAINLINE.

23. PVC REPAIR COUPLINGS SHALL BE NIBCO SLIP-FIX OR APPROVED EQUAL, SIZED TO THE PIPE SIZE. NO COMPRESSIONCOMPRESSION FITTINGS WILL BE ALLOWED. REPAIR COUPLINGS TO BE A MINIMUM 5' FROM OTHER FITTINGS ANDCONTROL VALVES.

24. THIS IRRIGATION SYSTEM HAS BEEN DESIGNED TO OPERATE BETWEEN THE HOURS OF 10 PM AND 5 AM PER CITY OFTHORNTON REQUIREMENTS. ESTABLISHMENT WATERING WILL REQUIRE UP TO TWICE AS MUCH IRRIGATION FOR A 21DAY PERIOD. THESE FIGURES ARE BASED ON A 30-YEAR AVERAGE WEATHER DATA AND WILL NEED TO BE ADJUSTEDDUE TO SEASONAL CHANGES AND WEATHER CONDITIONS.

25. CONTRACTOR TO PERFORM IRRIGATION AUDIT AS PART OF FINAL IRRIGATION ACCEPTANCE AND PROVIDE ANIRRIGATION SCHEDULE FOR CITY STAFF USE. A CERTIFIED LANDSCAPE IRRIGATION AUDITOR IN GOOD STANDINGWITH THE IRRIGATION ASSOCIATION SHALL PERFORM THE AUDIT.

26. CONTRACTOR SHALL WARRANTY THE IRRIGATION EQUIPMENT AS REQUIRED BY CITY OF THORNTON STANDARDS ANDSPECIFICATIONS.

27. THE CONTRACTOR PROVIDE WRITTEN ON-SITE VERIFICATION OF CELLULAR MODEM STRENGTH AT THE NEWCONTROLLER LOCATION TO PRIOR TO ORDERING SPECIFIED CONTROLLER. SIGNAL STRENGTH SHALL BE ADEQUATEFOR SPECIFIED PEDESTAL-TOP ANTENNA.
