Chapter Message A New Year! Welcome to 2017. Think back to when you were a child and had to calculate how old you would be in the year 2000. Didn’t that age seem ancient? Now it’s seventeen years later, and the new years keep coming faster and faster. I frequently think about what milestone events kids have to calculate about today. Do you suppose many of them think about how old they’ll be in the year 2100? I took the last two weeks of the year off this year, and stayed home for ten of those days. Other than having a cold that danged-nigh onto killed me, it was a glorious time of horological pursuits. I got three watches and one-and-a-half clocks done, and was again reminded how incredibly lucky we in the Guild are to have this interest and skill. We start the year off with a bang, with the 400-day clock class the very first Saturday. More classes, more auctions, more meetings, and more fellowship will fill the rest of the year. I wish you and yours the very best of New Years, and look forward to spending part of 2017 with you. Warmest regards, Glen

November Meeting Terry Palmer gave the program on his German Time Bomb Clock. He discussed the hazards in working on this style clock. It is a version of the 400 day clock only with an unusual mainspring set up that is likely to break unexpectedly and send metal pieces flying. This was an interesting program that has alerted us to look out for this model and not to buy it to restore.
