CAPITAL DANCE PROJECT

Behind-the-Barre 2017: Call for Collaborative Artists

Application Details and Guidelines

Capital Dance Project is a collaboration of local artists, working to elevate the spirit of the community through the performing arts. It was created by dancers who met at the Sacramento Ballet, but could not have been made possible without the support of many other local artists and organizations.

Capital Dance Project returned to the Crest Theater in Au-gust 2016 for Behind the Barre: Made in Sacramento!

Launching forward from our inaugural performance in 2015, Capital Dance Project presented an exciting multi-media per-formance featuring Sacramento’s most talented visual artists, musicians, and performers. Teaming up with local artist and musician collaborators, Capital Dance Project unleashed their creativity in 9 brand new works. 2016 artist and musician col-laborators included Raphael Delgado, Shaun Burner, Kevin Zee, Franceska Julianna, Waylon Horner and Trent Dean, and three live music acts by Sacramento Taiko Dan, EDM music producer Elijah Jenkins, and composer Andy Tan accompa-nied by Alison Leigh and I’Hui Chen.  Additional collabora-tors included videographer Brandon Manning and musician Joe Kye. Once again at the beautiful Crest Theatre, with drinks provided by New Helvetia Brewing Company and Clarksburg Wine Co., Capital Dance Project brought together our vibrant artistic community to celebrate all things Sacra-mento!

Behind the Barre 2017 Choreographers: Alexander Biber, Stefan Calka, Julia Feldman, Kaori Higashiyama, Karina Hagemeyer, Dylan Keane, Christopher Nachtrab, Shania Ras-mussen, Rex Wheeler
