D RIVE-AWAY awnings are becoming increasingly popular with motorhome owners for good reason; not only do

they provide extra space and privacy for those with small campervans, they also reserve your pitch when you drive away for the day, from the more informally laid-out campsites. Outdoor Revolution has become a favourite brand for owners of the smaller motorhomes, with their original Movelite Square seemingly ubiquitous amongst owners of The Mazda Bongo and the Volkswagen T5. NOMAD UNO £240.00 RRPThe Nomad Uno is an incredibly versatile drive away awning, suitable for campervans and van conversions, but equally useful for 4WDs and MPVs. Its sheer versatility makes it useful not only for camping, but for anything from picnics to car boot sales. You can attach it to either side or rear door openings and when used in conjunction with a lift-up tailgate, forms an extended sun shade between the car and the tent. The awning can also stand alone and be zipped up while you drive away from the campsite.

Each side is 2.4 metres long, with 2 metre standing room. With the inner tent suspended from the frame, you can use it as sleeping quarters for four people, protected by the Revtex outer, which has a waterproof hydrostatic head of 3,000mm.

It is recommended that two people are used for the assembly, with one person standing inside, to support the tent as it is raised to the upright position. The drive away tunnel can be used to form a bridge between the tent and the tailgate, with two metal poles provided prop it up when detaching it from the vehicle.

MOVELITE PRO XL KAMPER £339.54 RRPThe Movelite Pro XL Kamper is new for 2010 and creates extra living space with a 3 metre square footprint. The connecting tunnel is adjustable from 180 cm to 230cm, making it suitable for a wide variety of motorhome conversions ranging from the Mazda Bongo to the VW T5 or the Fiat Ducato. Importantly, the attachment is wide enough for you to open sliding side doors into while still remaining undercover.

The whole awning is very compact and very versatile. Like its predecessor, the The Movelite Pro XL, the Movelite Pro XL Kamper has an extremely easy to erect design and features a zip front door with two full side doors. A ground sheet is also included and it comes complete with pegs and guy lines. There is an optional inner tent available, so that it can also be used as a sleeping tent for any extra passengers; an optional fi xing kit allows it to be used drive-away style. The Pro XL Kamper is fully adjustable in height from 180cm - 230cm and fi ts into a handy compact valise for easy storage. Outdoor Revolution has added a SunPro UV coating to the entire range of premium lightweight awnings, providing extra protection against fading and degradation of the fabric. Weight 17.9kg

a full flyscreen to allow air to circulate, but an optional, full mesh side panel is also available. The colour options are Anthracite/Mercury or Blue Graphite/Sand, chosen to co-ordinate with the majority of motorhomes on the market.

Both sides can accept either the tall of low-profi le optional annexe, which is supplied with a free inner tent with sewn-in groundsheet, to use as additional sleeping quarters. The tunnel connection will fi t into a motorhome awning rail but a free J rail is provided, with self adhesive Velcro that avoids the need for it to be screwed in. The total weight is approximately 30kgs and the standard fl oor area is 3.8m x 2.5m.

MOVELITE XL FAMILY RRP: £387.60 RRPThe Movelite XL range was introduced last year and this new family version is designed to enable motorhome owners to make full use of their passenger carrying capability. This versatile drive-away awning for both panel van conversions and coachbuilt motorhomes up to nine feet high, includes a four-berth sleeping annexe and inner tent. The whole sleeping area can be zipped off , making the space useful for storage if the sleeping facility is not required. The entire awning is very compact and versatile; like the original Movelite XL family, it also has an extremely easy to erect design, with a zip-up front door with two full side doors. The ground sheet is also included and it comes complete with pegs and guy lines.

The Movelite XL family can be used as a drive away awning by using an optional fixing kit, or by the use of the unique strap system which comes as part of the Movelite XL family.
