SMA Solar TechnologyDevelops, produces and sells solar inverters and monitoring systems for photovoltaic applicati ons. SMA is the world’s largest producer in this segment and is the only vendor that has a product range with the matching inverter type for any module type and any power class. This applies for grid ti ed applicati ons as well as island and backup operati on.

The inverter is technologically the most important component in any solar power system: it converts the direct cur-rent generated in photovoltaic cells into alternati ng current suitable for the grid. In additi on, it is an intelligent system manager, responsible for yield monitoring and grid management. Solar inverters are characterized by a parti cularly high effi ciency. The Sunny Mini Central produced by SMA already has an effi ciency of over 98 %, which allows for increased electricity producti on.

The inverter: The heart of a PV installation.

The inverter converts direct current from the solar panels into alternati ng current. It is very important for as litt le energy as possible to be lost in conversion. An inverter’s effi ciency is therefore of criti cal importance.

Grid monitoringIf the voltage or frequency of the electricity supply is non-standard, dangerous situati ons arise. A safe inverter prevents such situati ons by auto-mati cally disconnecti ng from the power grid if necessary.

Maximum power point (MPP)The Maximum Power Point indicates theresistance required in the solar cell to generate the maximum energy. Because this point shift s constantly, all inverters have an MPP tracker which conti nuously adjusts the resistance so that the solar cells operate opti mally at all ti mes.

If there is already gravel on the roof, this gravel can be used for loadingthe aluminum plates. Alternati vely, the plate can also be loaded withconcrete weights (for example sidewalk plates).

The FLATFIX console for fl at roof solar systems is carefully designed for making installati on easy. FLATFIX is a product for fl at or slightly ti lted roofs or areas. IntersoleThe INTERSOLE SE is a complete mounti ng system designed to integrate all sizes of framed modules (corresponding to IEC61215 or IEC61646) on sloped roofs. Once the ti les have been removed and replaced by InterSole plasti c plates (high density polyethylene) the waterti ghtness of the roof is guaranteed. InterSoleplates are hooked onto the batt ens, liketi les. Specially designed aluminium anchors are placed at strategic locati ons on top of the INTERSOLE plates and fi rmly screwed through them into the batt ens or the raft ers. The MECOFAB Division in the CARBOMAT group is responsible for developing and manufacturing ap-plicati on requisites for renewable energy. This division has rolled out a patented and innovati ve product that can provide the home with electric power and hot water for any new-build and alterati on project.

The stumbling block for owners embarking on photovoltaic and thermal systems is oft en the aestheti c aspect of their roof. Mecospan off ers the ideal answer to this: a beauti fully smooth black roof that in additi on generates energy in the 4 wind directi ons. Mecospan is a sandwich panel consisti ng of 70 cm wide modules. Length as desired (made to measure to suit the roof surfaces) into which the vapour barrier, insulati on, waterti ght aluminium as well as the photovoltaic panels are incorporated.

The atti c fi nish with a vapour barrier is standard, but it can also feature an OSB board, chipboard, plasterboard or other fi nish as an opti on to suit the customer’s wishes. The appearance is that of a uniform roof in which the ridge and eaves in each project are fi nished in high-gloss black painted aluminium giving your roof a uniform overall appearance.

The sandwich panel features 11 cm thick PUR insulati on (insula-ti on rati ng: R-value = 4.15) pressed together between two ti mber beams and aluminium secti ons that hold the solar panels. The unit is made waterti ght by a folded aluminium sheet. Waterti ght zinc fl ashing is available for dormer windows and chimneys.

Mecospan saves roofers a great deal of ti me given that they need not provide any beams, sarking or ti le batt ens. Moreover the insulati on is laid directly and done to a budget-friendly plan.

In September 2012 Mecofab received the “Energy effi ciency Award” for the Mecospan product and has developed it to off er a total roofi ng package including insulati on, the roof and solar panels all in one.

The Prevent company is a German company which develops wind turbines of 300watt and 600watt .

World’s fi rst turbine which the rotor begins to turn at winds as low as 0.8 m/s and capable of producing a charge at winds as low as 1.8 m/s (6,48km/h). No other wind turbine starts at that low wind speed. This is because it is based on a unique design, the only turbine available without a magneti c restraint moment!
