Cardiff North Public School is committed to providing our community with a zero tolerance to Bullying. As part of this commitment we are required to communicate our Anti- Bullying Plan to you. A copy of this plan will be sent home with today’s Bulletin. The NSW Department of Education policy states that it “rejects all forms of bullying behaviour including online (or cyber) bullying. NSW public schools work to provide safe, inclusive, and respectful learning communities that promote student wellbeing. The department’s Behaviour Code for Students requires students to be inclusive and respect other students, their teachers, school staff, and community members and to not bully, harass, intimidate, or discriminate against anyone in our schools. Schools are required to establish strategies and practices to encourage positive student behaviour, recognise and reinforce student achievement and wellbeing and manage disruptive student behaviour, as outlined in the Student Discipline in Government Schools Policy. School staff need to encourage high levels of parental and community involvement in the school to improve student attendance, engagement, learning and behaviour. Each school must complete and implement the Anti-bullying Plan. Bullying behaviour has three key features. It involves the intentional misuse of power in a relationship. It is ongoing and repeated and it involves behaviours that can cause harm. Bullying behaviour can also involve intimidation, victimisation and harassment, including that based on sex, race, religion, disability, or sexual orientation, both online and offline. Bullying can be illegal if it involves behaviours that include physical violence, threats of violence, damaging property, or stalking. The NSW anti-bullying website supports school staff, parents and carers, volunteers and contracted staff and students to discourage, prevent, identify, and respond effectively to student bullying behaviour, where it does occur. Preventing and responding to bullying is the shared responsibility of all school staff, volunteers and contracted staff employed by schools and students, parents and carers. Teachers and other school staff are provided with support and professional development to discourage, prevent, identify and respond to student bullying behaviour. Continued over…….. On the 12th March our students will again participate in the annual ‘Bully No More’ presentation. Cardiff North Public School is committed to providing our community with a zero tolerance to Bullying. As part of this

commitment we are required to communicate our Anti-Bullying Plan to you. A copy of this plan will be sent home with today’s Bulletin. The NSW Department of Education policy states that it

Reports of student bullying can be made to any staff

member at a school. A teacher or school executive staff (such as the principal or assistant principal) at the school will address the reported bullying in a timely manner. If a student, parent or carer believes a matter is not being dealt with effectively, they can refer the matter to the school’s principal for resolution.”

Cardiff North Public School Student Information Pack

Today your child has been given a student information pack. Please check, sign and complete all of the

required areas and return it to school by Monday 25th February. We use this information for various reasons including permission to publish images on our website. We also use your employment details to help us gain funding for our school. The information

provided in the employment details (Family Occupation and Employment Index—FOEI) section must be updated manually by the office staff before the beginning of March each year. This index helps the department decide how much equity funding they give

our school in the following year to help our students. Equity funding is used by the school to reduce the costs of excursions, discos, pay for our Drumming and Life Skills programs, as well as many other areas we identify to help the wellbeing of our students. Please give this your prompt attention and return by Monday

25th February. Have a beautiful week everyone!

Staff Carpark

Parents are reminded that our staff carpark is strictly for the use of staff at Cardiff North Public School. This is a WHS safety issue as well as a space issue. We appreciate your co-operation in parking in the designated public car areas.

Lake Macquarie North School Leaders Day

Today our student leaders participated in the Lake Macquarie North School Leaders Day. Activities they were involved in included a co-operation challenge, public speaking and a writing and performance task. They were also addressed by some leaders from High School leaders and the Lake Macquarie North Director of Educational Leadership, Louise Gallagher. As usual our students shone as leaders and displayed the exemplary behaviour expected from our students. We are all super proud of them.
