Our sectors

Case studiesAnna MacDonald (Senior Analyst)

I joined Aurora in 2017 after completing a Master’s in Materials Science at the University of Oxford. One of the key highlights of working at Aurora has been working on projects that directly impact the energy transition, including investigating the future of subsidy

support for renewables, and determining low cost pathways to decarbonise the GB power sector. I am proud to lead Women@Aurora, a formal support network for women, providing a platform to discuss and facilitate gender balance and diversity. We actively encourage women to apply to Aurora and enter the energy industry!

Lisa Pflaum (Associate)I joined Aurora in 2018 after having worked at one of Germany’s largest utilities. Aurora was a great next step in my career as I can apply my industry experience and knowledge about power markets in Aurora’s long-term analyses. It is particularly interesting to derive insights on the

power market of the future, combining my practical experience in power trading and the interplay of different markets today with Aurora’s sophisticated forward-looking modelling, and the vast experience of my colleagues.

David Taylor (Senior Energy Modeller)I started at Aurora shortly after finishing my Master’s degree at the University of Oxford. I wanted a job where I could apply my technical knowledge, and was interested in the energy industry. Aurora with its academic roots seemed like a perfect fit. Since joining in 2016 I

have worked on a variety of challenging and rewarding projects, and now I lead Aurora’s European modelling efforts. The people and culture at Aurora are friendly, and I’ve enjoyed working with a team of highly motivated analysts, with a diverse range of academic backgrounds.

Rowan von Spreckelsen (Senior Associate)When I joined Aurora in 2016, I couldn’t have imagined a more rewarding and fast-paced company to be involved in straight out of university. Aurora has a great collaborative atmosphere and it is interesting analysing and modelling changing energy markets. Since

joining, I have worked on and led numerous projects spanning global commodities to GB, French and Australian power markets. Most recently I have moved to Sydney, helping to set up Aurora’s Sydney office. Work at Aurora is challenging but never dull. I would recommend it to any graduate interested in energy and economics.
