Built from prefabricated modules of wood, steel, terrazzo and glass, the highly coordinated and detailed lighting design for this Venture Capital Office Building consists exclusively of LED luminaires, using only three fixture types for the interior, two of which were custom developed specifically for this project. The use of bleeding-edge LED technology, software-based lighting controls with daylight harvesting, and a building management system results in a lighting design that is intelligent, responsive and comfortable with an interior connected load of only 0.62 Watts per square foot.

One judge stated that the project is “elegant, sophisticated, yet restrained” and “an excellent example of fully integrated architectural lighting.”

Linear LED light slots, with custom-designed asymmetrical downward and outward batwing-style distribution, line the perimeter of the glass and wood paneled walls. Low-profile LED spotlights were developed to integrate into narrow openings between wooden slats.

The dual optics of the perimeter LED fixtures softly graze the wood walls and fill the space with task-level lighting, keeping the architectural ceiling clean. The lenses of these luminaires are completely uniform and free of striations, hot spots or dead spots, even as the fixtures wrap the corners of the building core. This smart building uses daylight-responsive dimming throughout, while brise-soleil and concealed motorized shades provide sun shading.

The acid-etched laminated glass walls of the lobbies and stairwell remain softly bathed in light and do not reflect any harsh lighting images. The stretched ceiling is backlit with LED panels, which are responsive to incoming daylight from the skylight above. The detailing of the stair stringer edge maximizes the luminous surface, making the stair panels appear to float weightlessly.

The architectural daylighting combined with cutting-edge artificial lighting technology for the Venture Capital Office Building delivers a high-performance, high-style building that exceeds California Title 24 lighting requirements by nearly 50%.

Productivity and engagement are the buzz today, but nothing limits

an employee’s productivity and performance like personal problems

and challenges. These can include a host of personal issues such

as, stress, anxiety, depression, family conflict or relationship

problems to name a few. For some employees, the demands of

raising children or caring for elderly parents represent barriers to

being fully engaged at work. Employee Resource Systems, Inc. (ERS)

is a Chicago-based company with 20 years of experience providing

comprehensive employee assistance program (EAP) services. Our

goal is to help your individual employees and their family members

successfully respond to the demands of modern life. We also want to

help your managers and supervisors successfully respond to

workplace performance or behavior problems.

What distinguishes ERS from other EAP vendors?

Exceptional Customer Service: ERS is a service driven vendor; contracts are

customer-friendly with fixed pricing for multi-year contracts.

Dedicated Counseling Staff: Our clinicians have a minimum of a Master's

degree with years of experience within the mental health field. Counselors conduct

purpose-driven follow-up to ensure that each individual was successfully connected

with a resource or referral.

Extensive Affiliate Network: We have an extensive national clinical network

of skilled clinical professionals.

Unparalleled Program Promotion: ERS produces customized promotional

materials including quarterly newsletters, check stuffers with tear-off wallet cards,

and posters.

Superior Account Management: Your account manager is part of a consistent

and experienced team and your first point of contact for any request outside of

regular service delivery.

How the EAP supports workplace success!

Assessment, short term counseling and referral: Immediate crisis

intervention and foreign language interpretation capabilities are available 24-hours

a day, seven days a week. Callers have direct and unlimited access to a counselor

over the phone and are always offered in-person sessions. A thorough assessment,

short-term counseling and when necessary, referral to the best and most appropriate

resource is the core of the assistance program’s activity.

Work-Life – Enhanced: Work-Life programs have evolved to include programs

which support employees’ work experience and personal lives to a far greater

degree than ever imagined. ERS provides an “Enhanced” level of work-life

service with all agreements. This level of service includes an extensive collection

of web-based informational tools, assessments, calculators, locators, articles and

other resources supporting lifecycle and daily living topics and resources. In

addition, there is access to child and elder care locators, the learning center, skill

builders, health tools and monthly webinars. Also included is the “live-connect”

feature providing 24/7/365 - real-time access to work-life consultants.

Integrated Wellness: Integrated well-being initiatives motivate employees

to make lifestyle changes that positively impact their health, as well as your

organizations bottom-line. The result is a healthier, balanced, more productive

workforce. Employees are paired with professional wellness coaches for immediate,

solution-focused, wellness consultation by telephone or web. Imbedded in our

coaching products is our web portal with enhanced online tools including trackers,

videos, articles, assessments and four multimedia healthy lifestyle tutorials for

weight management, smoking cessation, walking/exercise and stress management.

ERS can work with companies to customize solutions that include some or all

of the following solutions: telephonic wellness coaching; health risk assessment;

on-site health screening; health and wellness seminars; 24/7 nurse line and nursing

mother assist.

Management Consultation: A manager who has a concern about an employee

contacts the EAP. The EAP counselor will discuss the situation with the manager

and explore possible interventions that may include discussing concerns and

expectations with the employee, documentation, collaboration with Human

Resources, and informally or formally referring the employee to the EAP for

assistance.

Job Performance Referral (JPR): A JPR may occur as a result of a decline

in workplace behavior or productivity. It may also occur following a positive drug

screen and adhere to the employer’s Drug-Free Workplace Policy. The manager is

provided with consultation on how to refer the employee, collaborate with Human

Resources, and document the referral. The goal of the JPR is to offer the employee

support and resources so that she/he can improve job performance and succeed in

the workplace. ERS counselors will follow up with JPR clients for as long as 2

years after the initial referral.
