Share our space

K—1

Over the last few weeks we have been implementing reading and phonics

group work during the morning session. During this time, the group work

caters for the individual levels within the classroom. We have been reading

“Where is the Green Sheep” and “Hairy McClary” and completing writing

activities on these books.

2-3

During Week 7 and 8 in English, we have been identifying differences be-

tween facts and opinions. We have also been researching and writing our

own information reports on a variety of topics. We continue to enjoy har-

monica lessons. In Maths, we’ve been exploring the connection between

repeated addition and multiplication. It would be wonderful if the students

could consolidate their times tables at home.

4, 5, 6

Over the past few weeks, we have been studying a new novel called

“Hatchet” by Gary Paulsen. It is a survival story about a 13 year old boy

named Brian. We have been focusing on ‘point of view’ and how it shaped

our opinion. In Maths we have been learning about division and it’s rela-

tionship to multiplication.
