in 2005 with just one school in

Louisville, Kentucky. The program,

now celebrating its third year of

operation, has expanded to schools

in Los Angeles, New York, and

a results oriented program designed

to meet the nutritional needs of chil-

dren over the weekend when they

are not in school. Blessings in a

Backpack is a privately funded

program with 100% of all money

raised going directly to feed chil-

dren. Students participating in this

program have shown dramatic

gains in reading comprehension,

test scores and attendance has

increased substantially.
