in 2005 with just one school in
Louisville, Kentucky. The program,
now celebrating its third year of
operation, has expanded to schools

dren over the weekend when they
are not in school. Blessings in a
Backpack is a privately funded
program with 100% of all money

The Constant Gardener Trust
is an organization set up
specifically to help the Kibera
slums in Nairobi, and the
village of Loiyangalani in
Turkana, where filming of
The Constant Gardener took
place, and established links
with the communities had
been formed. So far the Trust’s
focus has centered on building
sanitation blocks in Kibera
and a Secondary School in
Loiyangalani. The Trust is
also involved with many other
education and healthcare
initiatives in these areas.
