Message From the English directorDear Parents,
April was a great month for us
here at CAS! We were pleased to see
so many parents and families at our
Progress Report Night, and we hope
that you enjoyed our students art
exhibits and musical performances!
The value for the month of Aprilwas Faith, and the values of May are
closely related Trust and Honesty.
Our morning devotionals and activities
this month are designed to help our
students realize how important it is to
tell the truth. We know that telling the
truth is not always easy for our kids.
We see this at school, when the
students sometimes lie about doing
their homework or getting off of the
M list. We believe that teaching
students to be honest is one of the most
important lessons we can share with
them, and were sure you agree.
This month, you can help us at
home by discussing the values of trustand honesty with your children,
especially when it comes to those
difficult situations where telling the
truth isnt the easiest choice. Love
does not delight in evil but rejoices
with the truth (1 Corinthians 13:6).
Parents, we appreciate your
ongoing support in teaching your
children right from wrong. We want to
work together with you to help them be
more responsible and do their
homework on time. Please remember to
check Engrade frequently at home.
Many blessings to you and your
loved ones this May, and we wish you al
a very happy Mothers Day!Ms. Laura Cometa

Cas has its first online bloggers competitionThe students in Mr. Jaimes 4-7 th grade Computer classes
took part in a competition to see who could create the best
blog. A blog is a website where the students can show their
artistic talents, choose their own designs, and share news,
opinions, games, and activities.
From all of the blogs that were created, Mr. Jaime
selected 16 finalists to show their work on parent night. The
blogs were voted on by the teachers, staff, and PTA parents.
The winners were:
1st place: Dulce Ocaa
2nd place: Indira Gonzalez, Susy Ramirez
3rd place: Joel Jerez, Rony Estrada, Maricarmen Pedroza
The prizes included flexible keyboards, optical mice, a
finger mouse, and a webcam. Congratulations to the winners
and we hope you that all of the students continue to maintain
their blogs and share their views with the world.
9th
graders make games to teach 1st
grade
Learning math isfun!
Ms. Odds 9th grade Algebra class has been working on a project this Spring to
help the first graders learn more Math. The 9th
graders each created their owngames to incorporate skills that the 1st graders need to know. The games were
completely student-made and had named like Math Bingo, Mathopology, Hot
Potato, Math Party, Cardville, Around the World, and a Scavenger Hunt.
All of the games focused on adding and subtracting single and double-digit
numbers, which are the skills that 1st grade teacher, Ms. Herrera, needs the first
graders to master this year. The two classes get together on Friday afternoons to
play these new games and learn more Math.
Ninth grader Sofia Yon felt that the project was worthwhile both for the 9
th
and 1st graders. She said, I really liked this project because it was different from
the regular work we have to do. Playing with the little kids was great because they
have us to look up to and they can see that growing up is not that bad!

On April 27th here at CAS,
everybody got inspired by the Art
Contest that took place during Parent
Night. All of the artwork was set up in
the classrooms to look like it was in a
museum. The students used a different
type of artistic techniques to showcase
their creativity ranging from cubism
and pointillism to shading and
sculpture, and much more.Of course, some students
artwork showed more effort than
others, and thats probably what
influenced the judges to vote for their
winners.
Eighth grader Ana Isabel Galvez
said, The art contest was fun because
we could show our creative side!
Bachillerato teacher Don Misael
agreed, I think it was a great
experience because the students
showed their creativity.
The Art Contest winners were:
1st grade: Mia Salazar
2nd grade: Leonel Bueso
3rd grade: Angie Paiz & Brineyt Lanzas
4th
grade: Pamela Avila
5th grade: Andre Rodriguez
6th grade: Pamela Molina
7th grade: Juan Rodrigo Valle
& Ronald Castellanos
8th grade: Mabel Pineda
9th grade: Sofia Yon
10th grade: Ana Lucia Galvez

Audience enjoys Music show at cas
On Progress Report Night, Friday, April 27th, we got to
see performances from Ms. Sterlings Music Club, Ms. Lilys
music students, and the 1st and 2nd graders.
The Music Club, called Sterling Sound performed many
songs including Princess of China, Price Tag, Pack Up, and
You and Me. The club usually meets every Wednesday at lunch
Transit day!
to practice singing in English, but before parent night they
were meeting every day to get ready. The clubs
performances featured Oscar Alvarado on guitar and piano,
Juan Rodrigo Valle on guitar, and solos by Sofia Yon, Diego
Ochoa, and Indira Gonzalez.
The first graders performed The Tree Song, which
they originally sung for Earth Day, as well as Mi Bella
Guatemala with the 2nd graders. There were also a variety of
students from Ms. Lilys class who played instruments.
Bachillerato student Alejandra Torres said, The
performances were great because we never had that kind of
thing at my old school.
Seventh grader Ana Sofia Galvez agreed, The
performances were great because everybody sang well.
These types of activities are great ideas from the
directors. They should keep doing fun activities like these and
have more performances, talent shows, and competitions.
On April 17th, Pre-School got a visit from PMT
officers, who made a puppet show to teach the
children about traffic rules. Afterwards, the
students had a chance to obey traffic signals as
they rode their own bicycles around campus. It
was great fun for all! Thank you, PMT.

Honoring god on Earth day
Calendar
CAS hosted a special chapel on the
morning of Friday, April 20th to celebrate
Earth Day, which is held every year across
the globe on April 22nd.
In the chapel, we enjoyed various
presentations by the 1-7th graders. The 1st
graders sang The Tree Song and we
learned how to sing Hes Got the Whole
World in His Hands. There were also
readings from the Bible, including Psalm 1
and Genesis. The 3rd graders gave a
presentation about trees and protecting
the environment, while the 2nd graders
taught us about growing plants with
their bean seed project.
Ms. Lewis and the 6th graders also
taught the school how to say Genesis in
sign language. We finished with a prayer
led by the 7th graders. We hope that the
students remember the lessons of this
day, to protect our planet and honor
Gods greatest creation, the Earth!
