Cat Light Emitting Diode (LED) Work Lights

Operators and work sites prefer the bright lights of LEDs. The Cat LED work lights aredesigned for applications where high service life and durability is important. High Intensity Gas Discharge Work Lights from Caterpillar increase productivity ofboth machines and operators providing bright light around-the-clock or extendednight operations. Cat HID Work Lights are built to handle tough jobs efficiently, pro-ducing the equivalent of several halogen lights with the same wattage for exteriorfloodlighting. Compared to Halogen lights, HID lights resist vibration and shock betterand last longer. Your operators will work more safely and efficiently in a work areawidely illuminated by the bright HID Work Lights. Life expectancy is six to eight timesthat of Halogen lamps and produce more than two times more light output than Halo-gen. HID lights are available in three sizes and two light patterns.

Designed for long life and lower maintenance costs over incandescent signal lightbulbs, Cat LED Signal Lights have a demonstrated life of over 40,000 hours — that’s800 times the life of an incandescent signal bulb. LED signal lights use no filaments,so they resist high vibration, and they can be retrofitted to any (12/24 Volt) applica-tion. Cat Rotating Beacons use a halogen bulb on a rotating base. Strobes are warningbeacons, which use electronics to emit light using a gas tube and LEDs use a semi-conductor as the light source. LED Bulbs

Care has to be taken when selecting LED indicators as a replacement for incandes-cent bulbs. LEDs do not operate like incandescent bulbs and will not work with diag-nostic drivers and can possibly glow when powered by electronic controls due toleakage current. LED indicators do not have over-voltage protection circuitry socare has to be taken when used with other electrical devices (i.e. solenoids).

New WAVS for Use in Light Duty Applications

The Caterpillar designed Light Duty Camera system is available and ideal for small construction machines (12V) thatoperate in less severe applications.

This system has a similar look and functionality to the current WAVS product, but designed more for the smaller ve-hicles operating in less-extreme conditions. This Cat designed system includes a 7 inch TFT LED Backlight Displaywith mount (includes 1.8m camera cable and power harness), camera(s), and an 11m coaxial standard type cable.

The WAVS Light Duty kits are offered in a one or two camera configuration, see table below for kit part numbers.

Digital Video Recorder (DVR)

Video Recording is available from up to four video feeds. Recordings are broken down into 15-minute incrementsalong with a date time stamp to ease video searching. A date time stamp also displays on the video

The DVR is delivered with a 128GB SD card, storing a minimum of 72 hours recording time. Field-testing results re-sulted in units recording two weeks with space remaining on the SD card. The DVR utilizes a First In-First Out (FIFO)loop recording.

The DVR is compatible with the G407, CMPD and WAVS displays. While Object Detection and Proximity Awarenessare encouraged to help prevent incidents, they are not required for the DVR.

Back-Up Alarms

Caterpillar offers a variety of back up alarms that operate at 12 and/or 24 volts and provide sound output of 87 -112dB (A). These back up alarms are compact in size and have universal mounting brackets to maximize location op-tions. The back up alarms provides rugged durability and is designed to withstand high vibration and protectionfrom moisture. The back up alarms meet the requirements of SAE J994, CE, or E mark. The alarm works on positiveor negative ground systems and are protected from reverse polarity and voltage transients.Select back up alarms are self adjusting to sense the ambient sound environment and adjust volume of the backup alarm to be heard just above the ambient sound.Two styles of back up alarms available are Tonal alarms and White Noise alarms. Tonal alarms are thetraditional alarms which produces the "Beep-Beep" sound, where the newer White Noise or Broadband Sound(BBS) alarms produce more of a "Shhh-Shhh" sound.The White noise alarms are recommended for use in noise regulated zones where operations are near neighbor-hoods, within municipalities, or outside daytime hours. The White Noise alarm is only heard in and around the haz-ard area predominately to the rear of the vehicle and to a lesser degree at the sides of the vehicle.
