Young Adult Group

If you are between 21-40 and would like to spend time building relationships with other young adults who are intentional about their faith, please join us on Thursday nights! All are welcome.

The schedule for the next two weeks is:

• February 15th—Group Rosary at the Cathedral, followed by dinner with Fr. Patrick Casey, OMI

High School Youth Group

We meet Sunday Nights, 6:30pm in the St. John Paull II lodge on St. Paul’s Campus. We are meeting tonight at the lodge for a meal, game, bible study, and another look at the YouCat Youth Catechism, Next week will be a similar format with a special focus on our Lenten practices of prayer, fasting, and alms-giving.

Stations of the Cross

Every Friday in Lent, 5:30pm

The season of Lent begins next week. Each year we invite parish groups, families, or individu-als to lead the Stations of the Cross on a Friday evening during Lent. Stations begin at 5:30pm and a Rice Bowl supper follows in the hall. If you or your group is willing to lead the Stations on a Friday let Sr. Marie ([email protected] or 586-1340) know the date that will work best for your group. Please give an alternate date in

case your first choice has already been taken.

Upcoming Apartment Fire Workshop, FEB 23rd-24th.

Feb 23rd at 5:30 pm Red Cross Disaster Action Team (DAT) members will be exercising two differ-ent activities:

- Responding to a simulated Multi-Family Fire. (MFF) - Open a Shelter and begin the registration process.

On the 24th The Red Cross will be running two sep-arate functions:

They will be training new and community Volunteers how to run and operate a shelter, as well as training lead Volunteers on how to operate a Disaster Re-sponse Head Quarters (DRHQ) that will be support-ing the shelter.

Family Promise Volunteers Needed!

February 18 - 25

Family Promise continues to host families in Juneau! Our parish will again be responsible for host-ing families during the week of February 18 - 25. We will need volunteers to help with various tasks to serve the families during that week.

Volunteers are needed to prepare meals, set up the area on the Sunday before the families arrive, take down the area the Sunday the families leave, do laundry, and act as hosts each day to stay with families for various activities and overnight. Hosting will take place in shifts. There will be a breakfast shift, dinner shift, evening shift, and an overnight shift each day. At least two volunteers are needed for each shift.

Adult Education Series Beginning Monday 26 February, the Rev. Steven F. McGuigan will offer a five (5) week series entitled: Exploring the Gospel of St. Mark. The series will seek to explore the text of the first of the canonical gospels; provide a brief survey of how the gospels were composed as well as the sources available to St. Mark; and finally discuss major themes and Christological titles found in the gospel. Classes will be held Monday evenings from 7:00 – 9:00 PM in the Library of St. Ann Hall, 430 5

th St.

The format of the series will consist primarily of lecture with ample opportunity for questions and discussion. The course is free and is open to all individuals high school age and up. Participants are asked to bring a copy of the Bible (not just New Testament). The Rev. Steven F. McGuigan is Rector of St. Nicholas Russian Orthodox Church in Juneau. Prior to his conversion to Orthodoxy, as a Roman Catholic priest he was a member of the faculty of le Grand Seminaire de Montreal, Canada where he served as Clément Morin Distinguished Professor of Theology.

The Marriage healing program, presented by your local Retrouvaille community, will begin next Friday evening with a 2 ½ day live in workshop, offering married couples unique tools and communication techniques that help married couples living in a troubled or broken relationship, find healing. hope, and possibly joy in their marriage relationship again.
