Sing We of the Blessed Mother1. Sing we of the blessed Mother, Who received the angel’s word, And obedient to the summons, Bore in love the infant Lord; Sing we of the joys of Mary, At whose breast that child was fed Who is Son of God eternal, And the everlasting Bread.

2. Sing again the joys of Mary, When she saw the risen Lord, And in prayer with Christ’s apostles, Waited on his promised word: From on high the blazing glory, Of the Spirit’s presence came, Heav’nlybreathofGod’sownbeing,Tokenedinthewindandflame.

3. Sing the greatest joy of Mary, When on earth her work was done, And the Lord of all creation, Brought her to his heav’nly home: Virgin Mother, Mary blessed, Raised on high and crowned with grace, May your Son, the world’s redeemer, Grant us all to see his face.

Congratulations to the nearly 1,500 young girls who learned more about their Catholic faith through these faith building award programs! The Spirit Alive Award was earned by 13 girls, whom through the program discovered how the Holy Spirit moves in their lives and calls them to a greater participation in their church’s ministry. 220 girls earned the Mary, the First Disciple Award and by doing so they were able to develop new insight into Mary, God, and the world around them. 300 girls appreciate more deeply the place that God and re-ligion occupy in their daily lives because of their achievement of the I Live My Faith Award. Over 900 young girls discovered the presence of God in their daily lives by completing the Family of God Award. These 1,500 girls from all over the Archdiocese are a great example of the devotion our youth has to God and theircommunity.Thesegirlsbenefitedfromhavinghard-working,faithfilledand caring adult moderators, mentors, leaders, and parents and without them these programs would not be possible! Thank you!

The Saint Elizabeth Ann Seton award recognition was inaugurated in 1980 to recognize the meritorious contributions of adults who serve Catholic youth throughGirlScoutsandCampFire.Thismedalaffirmstheworkofthosewhohelp the youth develop their spiritual lives within the context of these organiza-tions.

The Saint Anne Award

The Saint Anne award is the highest national recognition for adults who serve Catholic youth through Girl Scouts and Camp Fire. The recognition was inaugu-rated in 1957 to honor the outstanding services of adults who contribute to the spiritual development of Catholic young people in these organizations and to further Catholic adult leadership in youth ministry through these national youth-serving organizations.

Prayer for Girls

Dear Heavenly Father,

We thank you for the opportunity to be gathered here today in celebration of the youth whom we serve in Your name. These are the young girls who remind us of who we were and what we wanted to be and do. These are the young girls who are part of our young church today and will be the guiding lights as women of the next generation. We know that we must teach them well and model the mor-als and values necessary for them to be true to your ways and not the ways of the world. Help them in all things that they do, so they may live their lives to your honor and glory and the salvation of their own souls. Watch over all of them as they grow. Let them always smile, laugh, giggle, and know fun as they grow into mature, loving, responsible women and serve you with a happy heart.

This we pray in Jesus’ name, who reigns with you and the Holy Spirit, one God, always and forever. Amen.

Final Blessing The Lord be with you. –And also with you. Blessed be the Lord –Now and forever. Our help is in the name of the Lord. –Who made heaven and earth. May almighty God bless you, the Father, and the Son, and the Holy Spirit. –Amen. Go in peace. –Thanks be to God.
