In this short tutorials we are going to learn how to create a hole and create a rectangular Pattern of the hole on both directions using CATIA. Follow the steps shown below.
Step One
Open CATIA by double clicking the Icon which would be in your desktop if you are using Windows and believe it to be the same for UNIX also. The screen would be as in Figure 1.

Step Two
Click File menu from top of your screen and click new file option from the menu list as shown in Figure 2.

Then a new file type dialogue box appears as shown in Figure 3. Select part from the list and click OK. Then a default part with name part1 will be opened.

Now let us select "YZ Plane" as shown in Figure 4.

Step Five
Now let us select rectangular profile from the right hand corner as shown in Figure 5.

Now let us create a rectangle with 100 X 200 dimensions as shown in Figure 6.

Step Seven
Now let us exit sketcher workbench and select pad from Insert menu > Sketch-Based Features > Pad as shown in Figure 7 or you can select the tool from the right hand side tool bar as shown in Figure 8.

Step Eight
When "Pad Definition" dailog box pops up select "Dimension" under "Type" tab, enter a value of 10 mm under "Length" tab and under "Profile/Surface" select "Sketch.1" as shown in Figure 9.

Step Nine
Now select two top and bottom edges and and top surface as shown in Figure 10.

Step Ten
Now select Hole feature from "Insert Menu > Sketch-Based Features > Hole" as shown in figure 11 or select the same from right hand side tool bar as shown in figure 12.

Step Eleven
When Hole definition dialogue box appears set the following parameters.
Extension of hole as "Up to Last"
Diameter as "10 mm"
Leave remaining things as shown in Figure 13.

Step Twelve
Now you have to set the constraint proper as it is showing error message as shown in Figure 14.

Step Thirteen
Let us double click the Sketch.2 from specification tree. Now let us set the distances from the center of the hole to both the sides as per requirement, as shown in Figure 15.

Step Fourteen
Now exit Sketcher Workbench and you can see that the hole is created as per your requirement, as shown in Figure 16.

Step Fifteen
Now let us select Hole.1 from specification tree and select Rectangular Pattern from the "Insert menu > Transformation Features > Rectangular Pattern" as shown in Figure 17.

Step Sixteen
Now set the parameters for "First Direction" as shown in figure 18. and for "Second Direction" as shown in Figure 19.
