July 31, 2014 To Whom It May Concern Aloha. I am happy to write this recommendation letter for Megan Foster. Conservation Council for Hawai‘i is a small, non-profit, membership organization based in Honolulu dedicated to protecting native Hawaiian plants, animals, and ecosystems for future generations. Megan interned with us in June and July 2014, three afternoons a week, for a total of 90 hours. I was immediately impressed with Megan. She thoroughly researched environmental organizations in Honolulu she was interested in volunteering with during her summer break from college. She followed through by contacting us, meeting with me, and ultimately choosing to work with us. We were able to pay her a small stipend to help cover her expenses. Megan is professional and competent. She is self-motivated and required minimal supervision. In the short time here, she organized over 60 years worth of archived newsletters, wildlife posters for the schools, teacher’s guides, and action alerts, and set up a filing system for these valuable documents. Megan’s knowledge of technology was also very helpful. She compared mass email services – Constant Contact and MailChimp – and helped us choose the appropriate technology for our education and advocacy work. She researched Facebook’s silent auction program, provided instructions on how to use it in our fundraising, and trained me on all aspects of Facebook so that we can maximize this social networking service in our outreach efforts. She also researched and compared iPods and portable speakers we need for our wildlife audio games for children, and recommended the appropriate equipment. Megan’s work at CCH saved me dozens of hours. Her thorough research and recommendations for online services and equipment will save CCH money by enabling us to choose the right online services and equipment for our needs. I am confident Megan will succeed in whatever she chooses to do. She is enthusiastic, open to new experiences, and a pleasant person to be around, and we are grateful for her time and commitment to conservation. I would be happy to provide more information if you wish to contact me at [email protected] or 808 593-0255. Sincerely,

Marjorie Ziegler
