CCOC held our annual tour on September 10, 2016. Each year we've committed to getting outside to explore our properties and the history of our community either by bus, bike or on foot. This year, we partnered with Green Energy Doors Open for a bike tour. Approximately 30 tenants, volunteers, staff, and community members took part in the event. MPP Yasir Naqvi and City Councillor Catherine McKenney joined us to give some opening remarks. This year's tour centered around CCOC's vision of sustainability as a nonprofit landlord. Attendees visited five different CCOC sites to learn more about how we encourage green living through both infrastructure and tenant engagement. Participants gathered in the 464 Metcalfe meeting room after the tour to meet their neighbours and enjoy some snacks. Stay tuned next summer for details of our 2017 bus tour!

Getting ready for winterTurning on the heatCCOC turns the heat on in late September/ early October. In the larger buildings, it can take a few days for the boiler system to build up enough heat to start distributing it to each of the apartments.

Locking up the roof decksFor safety reasons, CCOC locks the doors to the roof decks the last week of October. The roof decks will re-open in the spring once all of the snow and ice have melted.

Turning off outdoor tapsIf you have an outdoor tap, shut off the water to the outside tap from the pipe shut-off inside, then drain the line by turning on the outside tap.
